We are heading to WDW on May 1st. We have been debating the issue of do we take/rent/go without a stroller for months. We finally decided to take our stroller so we have it if we need it, but can leave it in the car until time. The problem came when I tried my DD (age 5) in it today. She has gotten way too big, and it will no longer work. She is now 45 inches tall.

I know there are several out there who think a 5 year old is too old for a stroller, but I have a few reasons why I want to be prepared with one. First is that we are doing 10 days in the parks, and I just don't think she can walk the whole time. The second reason is that DD gets overwhelmed by all the stimulation at the parks. In the past she has used the stroller to get away from the crowds and take a break.

I do not want to buy a stroller for a two week trip. I know there are several rental companies, but do they have strollers that will work for taller children? I know the Disney strollers can handle taller kids (I have seen 12 yr olds in those things) but they look so uncomfortable, and not quite as private. Has anyone else with tall children rented a stroller somewhere that worked for their kids? What kind of stroller did you get?

Thanks for any help/advise you can offer.

We just bout a city mini gt for our DS because he is tall for his age. He has so much more room to grow it is great. I know that you can rent a city mini at any of the stroller rental places in Orlando. I think that would be a good size stroller for your DD. Check it out.

My daughter is around 51 inches now and has no problem sitting in the City Mini. We love it for a Disney stroller and actually just bought a second one to replace our first that took 7 trips since 2008 and had been well loved.

Second the GT or elite. They have about the same seatback height and the elite has a higher weight limit.

We got the elite for the higher weight limit. Our daughter hated her old stroller and she falls asleep in this one. She loves the huge canopy and I love that I've steered it through snow and such. At 30 pounds I pushed her through a tiny grocery store near my house with one hand.

Orlando stroller and kingdom stroller both rent these strollers.

We bought a McClaren for our ten day trip. It's pricey for an umbrella stroller but it was cheaper than renting. Its taller to push and very lightweight. It has a strap so when folded can be slung on a shoulder which was great to walk through crowds with. My son was 5. Now 7 yrs.later we will still be using it for our daughter on next 10 day trip. It's been our favorite ever since.

The city elite hands down. It's taller than the gt and the bigger wheels will make pushing it much easier

Citi mini might be a little tight still. I'd go with the citi elite which is basically the same stroller, just higher weight/height limit.
