Stroller question

I said our last trip was the end of using a stroller. What I didn't count on was Twin A's medical issues not being resolved yet and fatigue still being a serious concern. We have five days planned, will be walking from the Holiday Inn on Walnut, and the kids will be newly 6 years old. They're tall though - at the rate we're going they'll be 48 inches by the time we visit. They exceed the height limit for a rental from an external supplier. But the Disney strollers don't help with the longest stretch of walking - from the esplanade to the hotel.

Any suggestions?

Get one at Walmart if you’re flying. Bring your own if you’re driving.

Can you get a medical “stroller” for yoru child through insurance?

You can rent a wheelchair unless you think that will make Twin A self conscious. At deckerts I seem to remember they ask for height and weight so they can give you the right size chair. I don't know of they have child sized ones specifically but if not at least you wouldn't be stuck with one of the large disney chairs (which I found uncomfortable even as an adult).

Are you thinking of both twins or just Twin A using the stroller? If just Twin A I'd buy a cheap single stroller once I got to Anaheim.

What are you planning on doing at the airport? Is there any way you could 'consolidate' so you're down to three suitcases and the stroller so you don't have to pay an extra baggage fee?

I don't think it's worth going through insurance. The fatigue isn't really an issue day to day anymore but her daily routine is far less demanding than a day at Disneyland.
We have never used an umbrella stroller. I'm skeptical about how well one will drive with a 48" 45 pound kid in it. Am I being too pessimistic?

She will walk through the airport. It's not an issue for a single day so much as the cumulative effect. We don't own a stroller as we haven't used one at home since they were 2.
Buying a cheap single might be the way to go. I fully expect a fight from Twin B though! They could probably trade off and be fine. I'm just not sure how well they would fit in a cheap umbrella stroller either.

Yo

You’d need look for a used maclaren.

We have a Uppa baby umbrella stroller that my 50# 48 in 5 year old tries to steal from her little sister when we are out. It definitely would be fine for the walk to a hotel.

This. My maclaren (that I got for $25 used) pushes like 10x better than a regular umbrella stroller, even with a heavier kid in it. But the easiest to push would be a single jogging stroller, though it's much more bulky. We can push our double jogger easily (those bike tires) at Disney with a 30 lb 3 year old and a 50 lb 6-year-old (she had issues with all the walking the first two days, apparently, and developed an injury, so she ended up sharing the stroller and we babywore the baby...) quite easily.

We rented a stroller from an independent company last time we were at Disneyland in 2014. The owner met us at the airport at our rental car with a car seat and stroller. The equipment was super clean...the car seat was cleaner and in better condition than the one at home! We took the disneyland bus back to the airport. We left the stroller and car seat at the hotel and she picked it up the day we checked out.

And of course I can't remember the name of the company and my gmail only goes back to 2015. Google search or facebook search for Anaheim stroller rentals. I did a ton of research (especially since we had to rent a car seat) and went through many reviews.

Oh, I found it!! City Stroller Rentals in Anaheim. It's helpful to have one for storage and those walks to the hotel once you leave the parks.

Their strollers only go to 40-45lbs I believe and the twins are too tall. I love City Strollers! They have helped us numerous times

I'd suggest a Maclaren umbrella stroller. Ours easily fits a larger child.

I know of friends with disabled late teens who use Maclaren umbrella strollers. I have 3 kids - 6, 4, 1 - and no medical issues, but sometimes we just like to hustle through the parks without dealing with slow walking kids, and other times it's 9pm and they're asleep on their feet, so we jam them into a big dogpile for the walk home. We use a Chariot cougar 2 double (which is nice, because it's a bench seat instead of two separate seats, hence the dogpile.) I'm sure you could rent one from a local company if you wanted to and they usually deliver to the hotel. Additional bonus to double jogging stroller is tons of storage for food. ETA my 6 yo is 49" and 52 lbs, 4yo is 44" and 48 lbs, 1 yo is 34" and 30 lbs, and they all fit in there.

The city mini stroller goes to 50 pounds and the city mini GT goes to 55 pounds. They also have a special needs stroller that goes to 90 pounds. These are all available at City Stroller Rentals.

That would be workable. The City Strollers website says 45 pounds per seat for both of the city mini models.
