Stroller Question --at WDW

We are soon to be the proud parents of a beautiful 16 month old son. We have received a very nice, expensive stroller as a gift. We will be taking a trip to WDW in the spring.
Should I be concerned that my stroller may come up missing in the sea of strollers we always see outside rides? I have no experience with WDW with a stroller so I am not sure if I should be concerned.

I wouldn't be too concerned about your stroller coming up missing. I would be more concerned that it would be damaged in transit, or get wet in the rain. If you have an old stroller, bring that instead. you won't feel so bad if something happens to it. By the Spring your son will be almost two. You could rent at Disney, or just bring an umbrella stroller. Easier to carry on buses if you are staying on site. We just got back with two girls (4 and 2.5). We bought one umbrella stroller from Dinsey for $40, and brought one cheapo $13 one from home. It was easy moving the kids in and out for rides and attractions, and they folded up quite nicely for our bus rides back to the hotel. When we left Sunday, we left the cheap one near the garbage, and brought home the newer one.

Define "very nice, expensive" stroller...

I wouldn't bring my Bugaboo, but I would bring my Mountain Buggy or Maclaren. I wouldn't be so worried about it walking away at Disney. I'd be more concerned about it getting damaged in transit.

We've been the last two years with our (now) 3yr old, and we rented each time. I would recomend an umbrella stroler or rent one from WDW. You can buy a decent umbrella for what you can rent one for if you are going 3 or more days. The big advantage of renting is that they are nice big strolers that are easy to push. There is lots of room for the extra stuff you need with a little one and all the stuff you'll pick up while there. The main problem with bringing your own large stroller is going to be busses and boats. I've seen people really struggle with them. It's really not fun after a long day in the park.

Thanks for the input! We are considering buying a smaller, easier to fold up umbrella typeone instead. We are looking at the McLaren Triumph because it is so easy to fold up.

I would not worry. I took my 35.00 double stroller last year and my 228.00 double jogger this year. They were both fine. I know there are dishonest people everywhere, but I think they will be fine. I think people would be more likely to steal a park stroller because they all look alike.

If your looking for comfort for your son to take a nap while you still are sight seeing WDW then def. bring your own. The plastic ones you can rent are not that comfortable for them. We brought our Combi and it was perfect the stroller attendants in the storller parking areas for rides are very courteous and nice. We never worried about it begin stolen or lost. We did however just left the stroller in the parking and took our belongings with us. We also heard a rumor at the POP that some people buy the 45 dollar strollers in the gifts and then leave them behind and Mainteance takes them and resells them for $5.. So whether thats true or not I dont know we didnt ask housekeeping.. But we did hear from more than one family there.

I would not worry about the stroller disappearing. Be aware though that CMs do occasionally rearrange the strollers so your stroller may not be exactly where you parked it.

I would be more worried about the contents of the stroller than the stroller itself. If it can be helped, do not leave any valuables in the stroller when you park it.

For the age that you're buying for, I suggest going with the Quest or an Inglesina Trip. Both have a nicer recline, deeper seat, and don't weigh much more than the Triumph. They're fantastic for in and out of the car runs.

One minus about taking a cheap small umbrella stolller. If you are 6 feet and over, they are pretty hard to push for any period of time. We took one and my wife eneded up pushing most of the day.

Too bad they don't make them for dad's to push. Even if it was medium priced, mostly the ones with height adjustment are the more expensive models.

I will have the same problem. I'm 6'7" and most smaller strollers kill my back after a time. I really don't want to bring our full stroller. (Which has an adjustable handle) Did you find any others that you'd recommend? Or did you just deal with what was there?

I am 6'3" and it was hard for me. We have been 2x with a stroller.

The first time we took our full-size and it actually was great since we put all our stuff in the bottom, plus in the crowds I found it a bit less likley to get trampled. Biggest pain is getting on the bus. We usually tried to avoid the real busy buses...but most people understand.

The second time we took our small cheap stollers because we went on the 4 night cruise first and we didn't want the stroller taking up too much room in the cabin. We knew going in that DW would be doing most of the pushing and we just lived with it. Cheaper than the Chiropractor.

Given a choice I would take my full size, easier to push and carries lots of stuff. If I was concerend about theft than throw a lock on the back wheel or something.

We took our Combi Sport it weigh less then 10lbs comes with a shoulder strap to carry it and reclines for your child, plus folds up and then in half if that makes any sense.

Sorry couldn't resist. I've spent more time on here today than actually doing work. pretty sad actually. But my DW and I are heading down there in December so I'm starting to get antsy.

We just did a Combi DX at DL (and Vegas and San Fransisco) instead of my full size, and I'll never go back. So much easier and lighter! Unfortunately the lack of cup-holders was bad.
