Stroller Options

We'll be traveling in December with a 4 yo (avg height but only weighs about 27 pounds, so weight isn't an issue) and a 10 month old. Debating if I want to buy a double britax agile stroller. I know I can rent, but we thought maybe it would be nice during the summer and to use on other trips so it should end up paying for itself. Question is, would a sit n stand stroller be a better option? We're not planning on going back for naps. Figured they could nap in the stroller. 4 yo doesn't normally take naps anymore and the baby is a pretty heavy sleeper right now. Does anyone have any opinions? I hate to shell out the $300+ if it isn't necessary, but I can't see the 4 yo walking the whole time.

We always found that 2 strollers work better. It's easier to move through crowds. You can split up too if you need to. If the little one naps in one stroller, the older one can stay in the stroller while the parent pushes him to the next ride.

I have three and we loved the double. They all slept at least once in the stroller every trip including the 9 year old who sat down in it on the monorail late one night. We go in September though when it is incredibly hot and humid. When the boys were 3 and 5 both slept in it at the same time multiple times and the 5 year old hadn't napped in over a year.

Why can't the 4 year old walk to the next ride? I never understood needing 2 strollers for splitting up - many 4 year olds manage all day without a stroller, so managing walking to another attraction via walking shouldn't be a problem.

WDW is the only place we've put 4 year olds in strollers, but they weren't in it even most of the time. With 5 kids close in age, we always went with doubles.

I bought and used a sit n stand for a trip to WDW when I had a 17 month old and a 6 year and it worked great for that, however with a 4 year old, for Disney I'd def. go with a real stroller so he/she can sleep and really rest when they want/need to. My kids are all pretty active and the older 2 never took naps after really early 3 at home, however Disney is a different story and we take full stroller through age 5 for our week long trips. I'd either buy a sit-n-stand for at home and rent a double (not from Disney, but a real double) while you're down there, or just buy a double now. I def. wouldn't only take a sit-n-stand with a baby and a 4 year old.

I'd definitely give the 4 year old a seat.

If I'd known about the GT City Mini when my daughter was smaller I would totally have paid the price for one. It turned out to be the stroller we'd always wanted.

Thanks. The britax is similar to the city mini, just not quite as expensive!

Agree with you. We talked about 2 but thought it would be more of a hassle with travel and buses. Want simple! Doubt we'd ever split up much anyway.

We used a sit n stand last year (2 year old and two 4 year olds) and it worked out great! So much easier than navigating a side by side double or taking two strollers. Plus it has a huge basket underneath for storage.

Did the front lay down for naps? Did it actually steer? The ones I've seen don't steer well at all. What kind did you have? Want good steering, easy folding, not too heavy, and shade for both. Asking a lot ha

We had the Baby Trend Sit n Stand. The front seat did have 2 positions and she did nap in it a few times. I thought it had good steering... keep in mind it isn't a single so it's not going to steer as well as a single, but it was a lot easier than an actual double stroller. The back part doesn't have a canopy for shade, but my boys wore hats most of the time so it wasn't really a huge deal for us. The folding up was easy too (there are buttons on the handle that you squeeze and it folds.) We drove down from PA and it still left us plenty of room for our luggage in the mini van. Hope this helps! lol

We always went in August/Sept so with the heat our older daughter got tired easily. When our younger one was napping in the stroller, one of us would take the older one elsewhere.

Two strollers always worked better for us, but to each his own.

Two strollers for us. Like the freedom to split up & it's easier on the bus to have two small lightweight, umbrella strollers than a big double. We love the Graco Breaze. Reclines completely, has a carry handle, one hand folding... Great stroller for travel!
