Stroller issues-advice?

Do you rent a car? If not, how do you get to Target?

We also rent a car. The strollers hang out in the trunk and get used pretty much anywhere we go. Next trip will be our DS's 1st time without a stroller. He's 8 now, might be a little ridiculous having him ride again.

You have to talk him into it. I can't imagine going without one. My DD is 4 and it is a must, we just went in Dec. and I think she rode it then more than she did when she was 2 or 3. It was so helpful to have it all ready at the door to go every morning. I'd load it up with everthing we would need for the next day. It carried our cooler bag filled with water, juice and snacks, a bag with extras for DD (change of clothes, jacket, etc.). It really is easy to gate check a stroller. It is alot of walking for a little one too and from the hotel and by the end of the day they are physically and emotionally exhausted and need to either ride in a stroller or be carried. I'd let him know if he doesn't want to bring one to be prepared to be carrying them

Curious why your DH doesn't want to bring a stroller? I assume you have bags to check so will have to wait anyway. And if carry-ons, then gate check.

It is just soooo convenient to have one. For the kids, and for "stuff". If he really doesn't want one, just make sure he does all the carrying That should convince him next time!

When we were stroller shopping I was all against spending a big amount on a stroller. But man am I ever glad we did.

You get what you pay for.

Id rather push our stroller for 12 hours than a cheapy for 1 hour.

A Disney trip is taxing for everyone. Having to pack a kid around that is too tired to walk will really add to your wear and tear.

We take a pedometer for our trip and most days we walk between 6 and 10 miles. My group tracks back and forth doing and re-doing their favorite things. They haven't learned how to do it all while you're in one land.


I haven't used a stroller in years.... My boys are 36 and 34 years old.

However, I've seen the results of families needing a stroller, traveling without one. It isn't a pretty site to say the least.

I have watched families cruse through the airport with kids in strollers and gate check the stroller at the last minute.

It is such a nice detail airlines offer! I say use IT!

If your kids are happy then you'll be happy. Which in turn make others in your company happier too.

When my son traveled with his kids and their car seats, he used a bungie cord to hook them to the carry on luggage. Worked great!!

when we travel with a full-blown car seat we use the pac-back from one step ahead... you can google it, it hooks to the car seat and then you can wear it on your back like a backpack, is super comfortable, and I used it to haul a britax roundabout to Mexico--and I wore it, not DH... then we gate checked the carseat once we were getting on the plane. My dd will be 8 next trip, and still is under the weight limit for our stroller, and you bet I am bringing it, even though she hasn't ridden in a stroller except for at DL--really ever--since I mostly wore her.

When we went, we checked one bag. Then, we carried on ten (!) bags (2 each for me, DH, DD2, DS4 and DS6), three carseats and a stroller. I wouldn't have made it WITHOUT the stroller!!! It carried the carseats We seriously took up more than the whole conveyor belt at security. If they didn't charge to check bags, we would have carried half that amount

In all honesty, I really think bringing our own stroller was less headache than anything else. I've gone through my fair share of strollers by now, and I would not want to push a cheapy one during a Disney trip. They are often harder to steer, harder to push (and sometimes won't hold the weight of larger children so they break). You know what's best for your family, but I think you'd be glad if you brought your own (unless you don't like yours - then use it as an excuse to get a new one )

FYI there is no charge to check a car seat.

We have sunshine kids car seat bags (Basically like a big hockey bag for a car seat) and the bags take the brunt of the damage etc when being checked.

PLUS, if you do a little too much shopping, you can put excess stuff in there if your bags are overweight.

Hello - We're going to Disneyland in May. My daughters will be 1 years old and 3 years old. I heard Disneyland does not rent double strollers anymore. Can anyone recommend a company outside of Disneyland that will rent double strollers and will deliver to the hotel we're staying at?

My cousin told me about gate checking a few yrs ago. I have done it ever since, and love it.

It is not recommended if you have an expensive stroller though. AK. Airlines damaged my brand-new stroller on a short trip from SEA-PHX. I e-mailed the company, placed a claim, and ultimately was given the option to take my stroller to an authorized repair place (in CA.). It did not happen, as I was living in NM at the time. Customers are gate checking at their own risk, so really it was not AK. Airlines' responsibility to repair it anyway. I was just extra upset since it was new.

Hello - We're going to Disneyland in May. My daughters will be 1 years old and 3 years old. I heard Disneyland does not rent double strollers anymore. Can anyone recommend a company outside of Disneyland that will rent double strollers and will deliver to the hotel we're staying at?

My DG does not want to fly with a stroller. Period. So we rent one from a rental company or buy one and ship it to/ from hotel.

When we travelled with our 3 1/2 yr old DD from Vancouver, BC, Canada, I looked into the pros/cons of bringing vs. ordering and shipping stroller to our hotel.

This is what we did. We needed the car seat for travel to/from hotel so we decided to get a carry "bag" and have the car seat on the airplane because our daughter would be more comfortable in her own car seat...**she fell asleep on take off!!**and then I went online to get a stroller shipped to our hotel room. We spent only about $20 in total. Mind you it was only a umbrella stroller but that allowed us to fold and go so to speak when the pathways got really crowded and we just wanted to find a quieter place...like our hotel room.

We used "diapers.com" and I believe the first order has no shipping/delivery fee so you just pay for your order.

We decided to bring our own car seat because let's face it you don't really know about rental car seats and my DD was way more comfortable in her own.

Any which way, have a great time a Disney! We have been 5 times and are planning on going back again...my DD has only been once so far!

It might depend on your hotel, but we're staying at Hojo and they quoted me $35 delivery fee.
If we rent I'll prob use travelbabees.com

2 daughters. 5.5 and 2 weeks shy of 3. Both are small girls. Odd is too tall for an umbrella stroller.
To and from hotel is my concern.

We are going in December. My son will be 5 by then. He may barely fit in the current stroller we have for him by then. BUT, I will most likely lug it with us for the walk back to the hotel at night. However, I am also hoping to play with and see how this would work for us. It's an option for your oldest while putting the youngest in a stroller. ALSO, if it's an option, buy a cheap umbrella stroller when you get there (I know that Disney World shops sell inexpensive umbrella strollers) and before you go home, give it to a family whom you think might need it.
