My younger DD is 6 years old and she has several minor disablities. One of them is that she has poor mussle tone so she gets worn out quickly. She also has sensory issues and I am worried about how she would deal with the hard plastic strollers Disney rents. We no longer own a stroller because she rides her bike every place we walk to now and she ride in carts when we shop.
So to the heart of my question. The place off site that the people on the Family Board suggests for stroller rental are too small for my DD they have a tray in the front that would make it hard for her to get in and out. I was wondering if there was a place that rented strollers for bigger kids or if someone had some other suggestion.

thanks.

I am not sure WHERE (I am certain someone else can post), but I believe you can rent the wheelchair strollers at the durable medical equipment companies. My 7 yo with autism (and hypotonia as well) has a Convaid cruiser and it is kind of like an umbrella stroller---his PT set us up with it. It really is a great help. Best of luck!

I believe the FAQ section at the top of this section has links to places that rent strollers similar to the convaid cruiser the other poster mentioned.....they're more like a convaid metro I think, which my DD10 uses for quick trips at home, kind of mesh like, it doesn't look too uncomfortable. (my DD7 says the stroller is "kinda comfy")

A Baby's Best friend used to rent them.
I think (but I'm not sure) that Care and Walker rent them - both are full service medical supply places. (they are listed in the FAQs thread.
Another suggestion is to contact the Physical Therapist at your child's school. They often know of resources such as lending closets in the area.
You might also want to look into purchasing one. Insurance should pay for it if your child needs it for mobililty for long trips.
