Stroller for a tall kid....???

Does anyone have any thoughts on Strollers ???

Here's my situation... We are bringing my 4 year old this may... He's tall for his age and sort of outgrew his stroller from when he was a kid, (he kinda looks funny sitting in it, knees hit the cross bar, hard to get in and out of for him)... the umbrella stroller we have is sort of small as well, and I have to hunch over to push it (ugh)..

What experience has anyone had strollers?
Any particular brand/model reccomended?
Back-pack Kid carriers???? anyone use one?
What's the deal with stroller rentals? is it worth it?
How about flying with strollers?
Stroller parking?? 'nuff said?

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Hi there...my DS is VERY tall for his age, not even 3 1/2 and he is 42 inches. Our last trip was earlier this year, we decided to use the rental strollers and they worked great. DS never uses a stroller anywhere else (zoos, local theme parks etc...) so I was not going to put any more money into buying a larger one just for the trip. I found that the rental strollers in the parks worked fine for him. It was also nice not to have to lug out own stroller around all the time like we did not previous trips. I used advise from previous posts on this board and brought a little ribbon to tie to the handle to easily identify our rental from the hundreds of others, and we had no problems. So unless your child is extremely attached to their own stroller I would just rent IMHO!!!!!!

I'll be in the same predicament soon.
My son will be 4 in December. Our next trip is January 25. I also have a daughter that just turned 7 last week. I hardly use a stroller anymore. I did have the sit/stand stroller for our last trip. It was great. But, if you just have one child, that probably won't work. Now, their both over 40 pounds and to push that thing around would be dreaduful. I've always been an advocate for bringing your own stroller. Especially one with a large basket to carry everything. I'm nervous what it would be like without a stroller and a basket to carry everything you need to travel with children to the park for the day.

We've never had a problem flying with our stroller either. You usually can take the stroller right down to the plane where you get onboard. Then, you just leave it there and they take it away. When you get off the plane, the stroller will be right back where you left it. Nothing to worry about there. Just make sure the stoller is tagged.

You mentioned a back pack kid carrier. Do you have another little one? The sit and stand stroller is the best for a little one and your 4 year old if that is the case.

We've never rented a stroller in the Parks. But, we plan to do it on our next trip. My kids do get tired easily. I doubt we will rent them all day. We're big on park hopping every few hours.

We have found that Peg Perego strollers (though rather expensive) are very roomy. Our DD is tall. She doesn't turn 3 until Oct and is 38+ inches tall (we hope she hits 40 inches before our Oct trip because she wants to go on Splash Mountain!). We just had a DS in June so we were looking at double strollers and the Peg Perego was the only one that really provided enough room for DD to be comfortable. She still has a lot of room in the single Peg Perego Milano we got when she was born. If you can check out the Peg Perego models somewhere and like one, Comfortliving.com is having a great sale (over 50% off some models). You could also check ebay and get a good deal if you don't mind used.

We always bring our own stroller. I can't imagine kids sleeping in the rentals. Plus, it is nice to have a stroller to get around outside the theme parks. As for flying, you can gate checj the stroller. You wheel it right to the door of the plane, leave it there, and it is waiting on the jet way when you get off. Stroller parking is easy at WDW. Don't leave any valuable and you should be fine.

I have the same trouble-my 4 year old daughter is tall and outgrew the stroller we took in Jan. We're going again in Dec. and need a stroller she can sleep in-sitting in one she's ok-but once it reclines her head is over the top. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend alot since she doesn't use a stroller much-it's more for when she falls asleep.

I'm bumping this up to the top again. I just started looking for a new stroller. My 22mo is 36" tall. Her feet hang below the foot bar and hit the wheels of our umbrella stroller, and she can reach down and touch the wheels with her fingers. Her head hit the canopy a while back. I've looked at Target and Toys R Us, and I'm going to Babies R Us soon. I need something with a high seat, a high canopy, and preferable a basket and trays for baby and mom. It needs to be inexpensive, too. I saw a Graco at Target for $50, but I'd rather spend < $30. Any suggestions?

I posted a while back with the same dilemma. Although my daughter is 42 inches-and this is probably the last time we'll be using the stroller. I went to Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Walmart, Target, Kmart and ended up at the Baby Depot at Burlington Coat Factory. Go there if there is one near you!! Forget Walmart and Kmart-they have their strollers tied down on high shelves and you can't even try them out! The Baby Depot must have had 25 different strollers we tried. We narrowed it down to 2-one fit her better but once I tried to push her in it-it didn't handle worth a darn. I ended up with a Graco but I had to spend more than $50. Good Luck!
