I'm thinking that we will end up needing a stroller. I'm considering buying one because I hate to pay to rent one. I see Maclaren is the top rated stroller around here. MY DD will be 5 in Sept when we go, she is 41 inches & 40 lbs. Still think this would work for us? TIA

In march my 4 year old (will be 5 in June!) used a stroller. We have a jogging stroller since it holds children to a higher weight level and he is a big boy! I am really glad we bought it!

I have a Mac Triumph and a Quest for my dd 4 1/2 (she's 4 feet tall and 50 lbs, so roughly the size of your average 5 year old). We are taking the quest to disney because it reclines more and is a bit more comfortable for her. I got my quest off ebay for a very good price. Good luck with your decision.

I bought a Mac Volo for my 5 yo before the rental fees when up and am so glad I did. I knew I needed the stroller for the walk back to the bus stop at night. The Volo is very lightweight, has a cool mesh seat and she doesn't need a recline. If you get a 2007 it will come with a rain cover.

I got mine from www.babye-store.com for $74.99 that includes shipping.

Thank you all! I guess we should make a trip to the Babies R Us to test drive them! The Volvo is looking good to me though!

lovesdumbo ~thanks for the link, it does say that the rain cover is not included though, great price anyway.

My daughter is exactly the same size as yours and she found the Triumph more comfortable for an interesting reason. It's hard to explain, but I'll try. The Triumph has little side panels sewn into the seat-back, squaring off the seating area and making it feel a little more roomy for arms and shoulders. The Volvo seat back is one piece so it kind of curves around the rider's back and arms. Obviously, there are countless Volo kids out there who don't mind this a bit, but it was the first thing my daughter noticed. She said it made her "arms feel squishy."

Anyway, if your girl has the same problem during your test drives, check out ebay. There are lots of brand new Triumphs available for about $115 shipped.

I just bought a Mutsy spider and I love it. We have a 5 year old that weighs 37 lbs and she is 42 inches and she is very comfortable while in it. We have a Maclaren also, but she kept dragging her feet, so that was out. We bought it online at Barebabies.com. It is a very roomy stroller, but it doesn't have a tray or parent cupholder, I just took mine off the maclaren and put it on the new stroller. The best thing is she sits up higher than other strollers and it reclines so she looks like she's just kicking back! Check it out.

i also "test drove" the maclarens today with my 3 yo. he likes the volo, triumph and quest all fine. i didnt like the techno xt as the handles were too high for me (5'3'' and made it uncomfy to push).
i tried the graco ipo too thinking i wouldnt like it as its heavier but honestly, my son also liked that one and i did too. it didnt feel heavy to push. i was able to push it with one hand while holding baby in the other. and it folded up easily.

we found out the combi and chiccos footrests were not in a good position for my son and he always ended up dragging his feet on the wheels which made it hard to push.

We just got back from our first WDW trip with a 3YO and 5YO boy. I sold our baby stroller years ago, so went out and bought a Graco IPO for this trip since I knew we'd need it. It supports up to 50lbs. The boys took turns riding in the stroller. My 5YO would have ridden more if he didn't have to take turns. He would have been miserable without it. I tried to find a used stroller at the consignment stores but didnt get lucky.

We just got back and I debated whether or not to bring the stroller for our 5 year old DS. I took it and am so glad I did. He used it all the time. We have a Mac Triumph and he is 43" and 37lbs. He fits in it perfectly and even fell asleep in it! It reclines and his head doesn't go over the top. The basket is deceiving cause it looks small but holds a lot. I love it and so does he.

**I checked out the website and the stroller looks interesting. A few questions for you...does it list a maximum weight limit? My son just turned 3 and he's 42" and 35 lbs, already the size of your average 5 year old. I would like to be able to use our next stroller for a few years. Also, do the handles adjust up and down? And is there a basket underneath? It's hard to tell from the picture, it looks more like a mesh type thing and not a real basket.

I've checked out the Mac but I'm concerned he'll quickly outgrow it. His legs are already so long!

I just bought the Maclaren Volo for my 42lb, 45" 7.5 year old. He LOVES it, and I do too. It stears great, high enough for me to push, has a mesh basket enough for small things and will hold over 50lbs. It leans back enough that if my son fell asleep he would be comfy. I have put store bags hanging from it with no problem. I got it cheap via EBAY with free ship and a guarantee for life. I added a mesh holder for the handles from Target ($20) to hold keys, cups and other crap we bring everywhere! It is also light weight, and folds like a tri umbrella. Mine is 2007 and came with the rain thing.
