We will be at Disney in about a month. We are trying to decided wether we should take a stroller for our five year old?

She has used one since our last trip last year. I just know all of the walking and in the past we didn't go back to the hotel for a nap. she just slept in her stroller and DH & I would take turns doing the activities we wanted to while she slept.

Any one have this experience?

She does still nap at school.

If you think she will use it then I see no reason why you shouldn't bring it along. If you want to try touring the parks stroller-free you can always leave it at your resort (or in the trunk of your car) one day and see how it goes.

we are taking one for our 6 1/2 yr old in Dec....she is in Kindergarten and hasn't napped in years...it just lets us keep the pace quicker and a place to store items....

If it is right for you then go ahead...

I'm taking one for my 5 year old in a few weeks. Used one when the older one was 5 1/2. We could cover a lot of ground without her getting too tired.

I wouldn't use it for her at home but at Disney I will.

Thanks. I think I am going to bring one. You are exactly right about being able to get around the park better.

I also like to store all of our other items so we don't have to carry them.

Thanks

Does anyone have names of strollers for kids that are this size?

Our old MacClaren goes to 45 pounds. I don't know what the consequence of going over the weight might be. In our case, our daughter might not reach 45 pounds before we go in April. She has her 5 year old "well visit" in late October, I'm hoping to make a good estimate of how much she's likely to weigh at that point. She is rather petite for her age.

Still, I wonder about this issue.

Bring one no one will have a good time if she is cranky, and if she doesn't want to sit in it put your stuff in there!

That's a point, of course, but I'm hoping to find a stroller that will actually work for her to use. She gets tired easily on long walks. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother, you see.

Definately if she is still napping. We have them for our kids, 4 and a half and six. It is great for storage AND crabby kids!

Bearloch,

Is "bell jogging" the brand of the stroller or the kind? We have k-b toys and it sounds like it's worth looking into. Thanks.

The best thing we did on our trip was to buy a stroller for our 6 yr old dd she is 44 inches and 44 lbs. We bought a Cosco lightweight from Walmart for $20. It had a basket underneath which was very nice. I knew we were only going to use it for our trip so I didn't want to pay too much. Its not a "napping" stroller.

There were tons of this type of stroller at all of the parks - we made sure we marked it with something so we could identify it easily

It was great!
We could walk at our own pace, she was comfortable and the best thing of all - I knew where she was at all times. It was also helpful in the airport when we only had a short amount of time to catch our connecting flight which was in a different terminal.

That's a good point you make about the stroller being a means of tracking your kid's whereabouts. I hadn't thought of that.

We finally decieded that we are going to fly so taking a stroller will be easier.

Thanks everyone

Hi.

We went this past July with 2 3/4 and 4 1/2. I would not hesitate to put them in our double as long as they fit. If that's 6 1/2 so be it. Too much walking and the pace would be slowed by them looking at everything. Also, our rule is if we are not in line for an attraction then you need to be in the stroller. Too many people and this made it easier to keep track of them. It worked for us. Also, they both slept in it at times during the trip.

Have a great time.

::yes:: We are going at the end of the month, I was on the fence about a stroller for our 5yo, until we went to a large fair in the area last weekend and she really needed and used the stroller! Just to get from point A to point B was great. She liked the rest time and we were able to keep up a pace she could not have done. We are just packing a fold up umbrella stroller, easy, small and life saving! :earsgirl:
