Sorry for yet another stroller question, but I thought you guys were the best to ask...

We're going in Oct. and we'll have an 8 mo. old and a 4 yr. old. I just looked at the Graco double tandem stroller and it says its good up to 4 yr.s or 40 lb.s. My son is flirting with both of those limits, so what's the next step? Is there a stroller out there to accomodate a child around 40 lb.s, and a little guy?

Thanks!

~Linda

Would he want to walk for part of the way too?

We have a mid-size stroller (Evenflo about $50) that we used for my daughter in 2002 I reclines, has a canopy, cup holders for us adults, a tray for food & a spot underneat to stow stuff.

It will make it's second trip to WDW this summer & our daughter will use the umbrella stroller & this way if she wants to walk, we can fold up the stroller & hook it up to the regular stroller.

Do you need a stroller just for the trip or are you thinking of a double stroller for at home, too. For the trip, I would bring a good, compact single for the wee one and rent a single stroller for your older one. I've used the Combi for my young ones. It's great for travel (very light!), reclines for the young one to sleep, and has a hood. The Combi makes a double, too. Same good qualities, but if you really only need the second spot for the trip, I would bring one and rent one.

I've done lots of different things....
1st trip with kid (DD 18 months) - brought toddler backpack, rented single stroller
2nd trip (DD 2 1/2, DD 8 months) - brought baby b'jorn and combi single, rented single
3rd trip (DD 4, DD 2, DS 10 months) - brought baby b'jorn and combi double, rented single
4th trip - (DD 6, DD 4, DS almost 3) - rented a single and a double

I think renting is more convenient with the older ones and bringing your own is helpful with a younger one.

Hope that helps!

I have the Graco Duo-glider and my son is 5.5 years old and 62 pounds. He still rides upfront and his little sister (3 years, 30 pounds) in the back seat. Now of course he is over the weight limits and it's not so easy to turn with him in it, but it gets the job done. We've used this stroller for three years now and plan on using it until it dies.

there's always the sit n stand... but i don't think you actually want to buy a double stroller when you've got a four year old...

i don't think i'd necessarily buy a double stroller at all (they're expensive and no fun to use no matter what you buy)... unless your four year-old really likes to be in a stroller and you'll use it a lot after the trip.

i think the baby backpack is a great idea as well... good exercise, hands potentially freer for taking care of the four-year old).

We just went with a 4 year old (42 pounds) and a 1 year old (26 pounds). We have a Combi Twin Savvy, which is OK. I don't love it and I don't hate - it's just ok. The weight limit is 90 pounds total, pretty lightweight, folds up nice, good recline, small baskets, no parent tray (useless bags thing for us), nice cup holders for the kids.

I am talking to DH about getting the Maclaren Twin Traveller - good for up to 55 pounds per seat! But he just won't buy into another pricey stroller when the Combi is working. **sigh**

Don't know if you are looking to buy a double, or do you just want something temporary while you are there. You could always rent a double from A Baby's Best Friend - they deliver right to you and have good clean items, price was good too.

We had to rent a double from them (long story) and we got a side by side Graco, $70 bucks for the week - worked good for us!

edited for so many typos...I lost count
