Usually we take two umbrella type but my mom is going with me and the kiddos and I don't want her to have to push a stroller the entire time. DD3 just had a birthday and will have to have a stroller, will need it for walking to Boardwalk and around the dolphin resort so I don't want to rely on rentals. DD5 will walk most of the time but will need a little push sometimes as she is a happy wanderer (very slow). Don't need a double really.

So I am thinking a sit and stand type stroller would work well. I could sell it when we return. Anyone have experience with these? Or should we just bring the 2 umbrellas and have my mom push. Or they can take turns in one?

TIA

Monica

For thoses ages, I would avoid the sit and stand, that could be really heavy and the stroller itself is large to carry.

I think bringing two umbrellas strollers is your best bet. You don't have to take both strollers with you every time you leave the resort, but I would in the evenings. Let me them take turns during the day.

Also, when I brought my mom to WDW for the first time 3 years ago, she got tired midday and liked pushing the stroller, it gave her something to lean on.

I have a dd4 and a ds 2 (almost 3). We plan on taking our sit and stand stroller that we took to disney last year. It does get a little heavy at times but it folds up nice. I liked it last year because if we didn't want to leave but my ds wanted to nap he could just lean back and take a catnap. My dd likes it because she can get out if she wants without us having to do it.

i hope this helps

Which sit and stand do you have? I was thinking about the Joovy Caboose? It is rather heavy at 26 pounds. Eps. since our umbrellas (combi) are 7 lbs.

its a baby trend sit and stand lx. It weighs about 25 pounds. We got it for about $100 at Target last year

I have the Peg Perego Pliko P3. It's a regular lightweight stroller that has a footrest on the back for the older child to stand. It is the same size as a normal single stroller, so it gets around wonderfully. We've had 3 other double strollers (a jogger, a side-by-side and a tandem) and this is by far our favorite. We use it at WDW and around town when I'm by myself with both girls (they are 3 and 5). They also like to take turns sitting and standing.

here is a link - http://www.pegperego.com/page.php?s...9f&pageid=UJVNL001&idf=04&idp=0000000160&cl=N

I tried out a couple of other sit-n-stands at babies r us and a store here, and they were just too big and bulky for me, they were too much like pushing a tandem double stroller.

Do you know for a fact that pushing the stroller bothers your mom? I ask because my mom (who has diabetes and can't feel her feet) and my grandmother who is in her late 70's actually ASKED to push the stroller when I would travel with one. They said it provided them with balance and stability. On the other hand, DH hates pushing the strollers because he has to lean over to reach the handles, tough on the back. Just a thought....:confused3

That is a good point. My mom has to have dish replacement done on her back (so she is always in pain) she likes to push. She said the same thing that she likes to lean on the stroller.

I have the Joovy Ultralite Caboose. I bought it for our WDW trip and use it in the car for malls. Both my boys like it. My DS4 likes that he has a "big boys" seat and not a stroller seat. :) My little one likes the snack tray (he's the eater in the family!:rotfl:)

I agree with Mommaof2. We have the BabyTrend from Target, and have always gotten so many compliments on it. It folds well, is easy to push, and rather lightweight even when we push 3 kids in it (one rides in front seat, one sits on back seat, one stands). Of course, our kids are all small for their ages, but we've taken this stroller many places and it's very convenient. It has several cup-holders, a large storage basket, and a removable snack tray for the front seat.

My mom is not in poor health at all and exercises everyday but she does go to the chiroprator once a week and has severe scoliosis (not diagnosed until 2 years ago). She is doing better now with back pain but even the beds at the Dolphin (I booked that with her in mind as well) will probably give her trouble. She has a special mattress at home that's adjustable. She would say she doesn't mind pushing a stroller but I know that it's not good for her. The more I think about it the more I am sure that I should either rent or buy something in which I could push them both. I actually have a Plinko but standing on the back for longer than a couple of minutes takes alot of arm strength. I could just take a single and let them take turns. In fact last summer I took both dd's to Epcot by myself and took one stroller. When dd then 4 got tired she would sit in the stroller and hold dd then 2 on her lap. They might be able to take turns this year as dm could hold the hand of the one walking. They are very obediant kids just a bit slow and distractable.

Thanks for all of the advice. I am still looking into the sit and stand option.

I've heard good things about the sit & stand. After our last visit to disney though, I'm thinking that I'd need a double so DD5 could take a nap.

So I tried out both the Joovy Caboose (Babies R US) today and the Baby Trend sit N stand (Target).
The Baby trend has parent tray and better basket but is as long as a regular tandem stroller and is large when you fold it if you don't take off the canopy. Unless I was doing it wrong? The whole biggness of everything didn't appeal to me.

The Joovy has no parent tray but is not too much longer than a regular stroller but the front seat was shallow and the child in the back hit her head on the back of the canopy a little. It also seemed to steer better but of course that was on tile and target was on thin carpet. It seemed to fold a bit better as well. But cost $30 more. I will probably see if another coupon comes out.

With neither one would I probably use the canopy for ease of folding and less bulky ness nor the child tray so that dd3 can climb in herself. Both are removable from each stroller. Neither could I hang the backpack off the back since both handles are connected on each. Luckily I won's need a bunch of junk on this trip.

So I still haven't made up my mind! But know I need a stroller for both since I almost knocked two kids senseless with my basket in the 10 minutes I was at Target since they were darting around like maniacs. Not that I let my kids run everywhere. The parents weren't even phased by it, I just don't get the total lack of control?

Just another thought, I know you can purchase "stroller connectors" which can attach 2 umbrella strollers together so one person can push. Prince Lionheart makes htem.

HTH.

Did you test out the original Joovy Caboose or the updated Joovy Caboose Ultralight? There's a HUGE difference!:)

The Ultralight has a parent organizer, huge canopy that can cover both kids and updated wheels.

I tested the original Joovy Caboose at BRU and didn't like it at all. I went to Buy Buy Baby and bought the Joovy Caboose Ultralight with a 20% off coupon. You can find the Ultralight discounted on Ebay.

The wheels are completely different on the Ultralight. It's so easy to steer two kids my DH couldn't believe it. He actually yelled at me and asked why we didn't buy this sooner for our last Nov trip! Because when I asked him he said no, you do not need another stroller!:rotfl: I sold some and bought this one and I really love it.

The front seat reclines enough so my DS1 can nap, it's as if he's in his carseat. My DS4 loves that he has the big boy seat. I like that it's narrow and turns on a dime. We're all happy.

Oh, DS4 is 44 inches and he's fine with the canopy height. He doesn't hit his head. The canopy is much larger on the Ultralight than on the original.

As for additional storage, I bought a "Mommy Hook" clamp to attach to the handle. It can hold packages and my tote bag.

I just need to decorate it somehow, last Nov we saw LOTS of Cabooses in the parks! Need to make it stand out!

If you have any questions about this particular model, PM me.

It was the original caboose. I thought it was OK and definitely a good option for us. I do not want to buy the other because the stroller will only be used for those 6 days and then I will sell it. Neither one of my kiddos has been in a stroller since last year at Disney. They turned 3 and 5 last week so this really is a trip only stroller. If I was going to use it other times I might spend the extra $120. Thanks for the idea though. If I decide to buy it then we will use it without the canopy. Our strollers now do not have a real parent or a child tray so that is no big deal to us.
I still might just take one stroller and have them take turns. I think I will wait a few months to decide since we do not leave until June and I can get the stroller at BRU.

We have always rented a double from A Baby's Best Friend - my 6 yr old even took a few rests in the stroller on our las trip! (get the side by side)

My plan is to have an umbrella stroller that I used around the hotel and to and from the park and then rent strollers in the parks. I'm hoping that somehow I can attach the umbrella stroller to the double rental stroller. I'm the only adult so I have no one else to push.
