I've never seen this mentioned here but think it may be neat....

While at Babies R Us I saw a stroller/rain cover. This item covers the stroller and the child stays in the stroller--it protects the child too! I purchased a new stroller to take on our trip and last night I put the cover on it to see the fit. We have to take the snack tray off to get a really good fit but I think this could be wonderful. It will not only keep DGS drier in the event of rain but can also keep the wind from blowing on him while we wait for some of the night time shows (it can get windy around the lagoon at EPCOT). A younger child would be fully covered, but since DGS is 2 1/2 his feet will hang out from under the cover--rubber booties for him in the case of rain;) Best of all--it was on sale for less than $9.00!!!!!

I just thought this was so unique and better than the plain old poncho idea---it also has ventiliation in it (even though I would think that the fact that it is "open" at the bottom would be ventiliation enough.)

P.S. I couldn't get it folded back small enough to get back in the original plastic holder BUT I could get it into a 2 gallon size ziploc bag.

Has anyone used one of these--thoughts/comments. Am I too overly excited about this????:D

I've had them for years; if you think that's cool, you should see the ones that the English use on an everyday basis; they have wire frames that turn the cover into a bubble.

When you arrive at WDW, put the cover on your stroller and leave it in place for the entire visit. The way to do this is to open the hood and then pleat the cover back from the hem up to the top of the hood, then fold the hood back to contain it, letting the ends drape down on the sides. Open it out any time you park the stroller for any length of time; you never know when rain will blow up in Florida.

We used this while my dd's were still in a stroller and its really a lifesaver. You never know when a sudden but quick shower will pop up in florida. This way your child can see and has plenty of ventilation in addition to keeping dry. It also helps keep a child warm at night if necessary as it sometimes is at this time of year.

Enjoy

DD *HATES* when we put the stroller cover on. She screams bloody murder.

We bought them for DDs strollers for this last trip - I think they were on sale for $6.99? Love them - and the kids did fine with them on. Of course, it was also time for our ice cream snack at AK then - so we passed in Simba Bars and all that came back out was a stick!

i have them for all my strollers. maclarens and other high end strollers come with them!

i get good use out of mine, i use it in the cold/wind as well.

you can also get uv/bug covers as well, great in the summer.

We have raincovers for both of our strollers and have gotten good use out of them time and time again. We have used them for rain but really use them more for cold/windy weather. During a trip to NYC a couple of years ago it was very cold (it was early Dec) and I doubt we could have made it through the week without the cover - it protected our dd from the wind and cold so well - she was always toasty and happy inside even when we were practically frozen. But even in less extreme cold, it really helps keep them insulated and comfortable so that you can go on with your plans without worrying about them being cold/wet.

For the $, they are definitely worth the investment and we'll never travel to an outdoor venue without them.

My DS 2 also freaks out when stroller cover is attached. We bring our Maclaren that has a custom made rain/wind shield and he refuse to have it on. He screams until we take it off. We ended up buying him a poncho during our last trip in August (very rainy week) and used the shield to keep the stroller dry. The poncho actually kept him drier because his feet didnt hang out.

I would still keep the shield you bought and try it out. If it doesn't work out you can just get a poncho. Plus then you can use the shield to cover the canopy and handles on your stroller.

and tried it out today. It was pouring and I had to pick DD up from school. It worked ok. DS stayed dry except for his feet. He didn't mind it at all, he was probably laughing at me even the golf umbrella did not keep me dry. I purchased the Graco one because it had my stroller pictured on the front and it looked like it would be long enough to cover DS feet, he's 11 mos. Don't be deceived by the package, it does not cover their feet. Also It was not long enough to cover the basket. Not that there was anything in there today. But at WDW I usually have stuff in the basket everything would have been soaked. That sideways rain just gets ya doesn't it.

My DS is in the same bunch who hate the cover. I think personally the reason is that when it rains the water beads on the outside and he can`t see out very well - maybe we should invent baby windshield wipers?:hyper: Also, I have found that depending on the weather the raincover can fog up and again, he bellows because he can`t see. I think raincovers are great for same kids - under a year I would guess, but lose their appeal once the kids, how do I say this nicely?....start asserting themselves (read become a pain in the butt at times:). My cover is also a specialized one for our stroller (Bebecar Raider AT+ - what a mouthfull and the thing looks like an SUV!!) and maybe the issues I raise are unique to me/this brand. Personally I am getting a poncho for DS and praying to God he will put that on without a WWF match in front of the Castle!!

P.S. - I really do love the little bugger :)

This issue always cracks me up - rain covers are a UK standard item, we wouldn't buy a stroller without one! Personally I prefer the soft ones without the wire frames, because they are less bulky to carry around every day (I don't leave home without my rain cover!)

A decent raincover should cover the feet, and the basket too, although not if water splashs up from underneath, mine has clips so I can attach it down to the frame, although I don't normall bother unless it's really bad weather.

My dd did go through a phase of not really liking the rain cover, but I think if it's really raining heavily, I'd rather have her dry and upset, then in a poncho

Rain covers for strollers are a lifes saver. I wouldn't go with out one. Our 1st trip I borrowed one last min from my nieghbor, and it really save the trip. DD hated it at 1st, but when she realized she wasn't getting wet she dealt with it pretty well. However as soon as it stopped raining, she would take it off herself. It also is a life saver to leave on when there is the slightest chance of rain and your go in atraction. Nothing wrose then a wet stroller.

We bought a graco one for the next trip. I personally dont' like it as much as my nieghbors, hers was bigger ( think hers was peg pergo or something like that.) It still works and really is a must during any rainy season at WDW. At home I just don't go for a walk if it is raining, at WDW you don't have that choice.

We would fold it up and hang it off the stroller in a WDW bag along with our ponchos. We took it everywere with us.

I wouldn't dream of going with out one. Come to think of it, I can't belive they don't sell them down there.
