Can you all recommend specific stroller bags that are ultra padded and offer great protection? We are going to gate check our baby jogger double city series and the specific bag made for it looks rather flimsy, though I can't find any opinions to read. I'd love to hear your recommendations.
Thanks. :goodvibes

AFAIK, there are no padded stroller bags on the market. What we always did was to use the carseat carrier bag to protect the stroller. We wrapped the very thick bag around the folded stroller before putting it into the stroller cover (which in our case is a sleeve, not a bag. It leaves the wheels & handles exposed.)

I have a dreamer design stroller and their travel bags have a hard back and bottom support to help protect the stroller. I'm sure it would be big enough for a Baby Jogger.

FWIW, on our last strip we just checked out DD-Manhattan Dlx and all I did was wrap bubble wrap around the foam handles to protect it. I guess we're cheap, I didn't want to spend $80 on a travel bag (and the measurements of the other brands didn't look big enough). Maybe we were lucky but the stroller made it both ways just fine - and we fly xcountry w/at least one layover each way.

Thank you for the great ideas. I like both ideas about the car seat cover and also the bubble wrap. Before I started the thread, I was actually thinking about lining the stroller bag with bubble wrap.

So any other ideas? I have received some good advice so far!

I used this one:

It is pretty good quality canvas and didn't have any problems.

I really wasn't too concerned with other things damaging it, I was more concerned with the fact that the bag was slightly larger than the stroller, which made putting it in the bag easy but the extra room opened up the possiblity of things rattling around.
Also, the overall size of the double stroller was larger than the airline allow (for free). Therefore, I didn't want to really make it any larger with lots of padding but did use alittle. What I endied up doing is use a bungy cord to tie it up tight along with the wheels.

I also checked it with all our other baggage. We wanted it for the parks and didn't really need it for the airport. No one said a word.
I think having your own that your kids are comfortable with and most likely has better storage is worth the price of the bag.
Jeff.
