Has anyone made their own stroller bag? I was thinking about making one rather than buying one.
I have seen the bags sold on Amazon for approx $10 but the reviews are not that good, a lot of they say the bag is not very durable.

Ideas? Should I just spend the $10 or make my own?

Thanks!

I'm flying for the first time in years. I have three kids in booster seats. I’m having the boys bring the bottom on booster seat and my daughter we will bring the full booster. They all have Graco turbo booster. We are renting a car so I need the seats. I'm planning on using our laundry bag to put the three seats in and possibly wrapping them in bubble wrap. The laundry bag is thicker and I think stronger then what I have seen the stores. This way they are clean and somewhat safe. I’m planning on gate checking them with my sister stroller.

Would a military duffel work? Those things are about as sturdy as you can get. I've also used a large nylon duffel when I had an external frame backpack that I flew with that held up well.

You'll save a bit of money if you can repurpose the bag...even if it is a few years down the line when you send your kids off to camp or college.

Are you sure you really need a stroller bag? I have 3 kids who are now 14, 12, & 6. We have travelled with them since the oldest was a baby, so we've gate checked strollers many times over the last 14 years. We've never used stroller bags and have never had any issues.

I made a bag for my Maclaren stroller when we flew this last time. I used a bag from a folding camp chair as a reference. It went together pretty easily and helped protect my sunshade and keep the stroller clean. I had a piece of clear plastic that I used to make 2 pockets, one I put in a piece of paper that said "s troller" and the other I put our last name and phone number. I used a heavier fabric and ribbon on the top so I could just tie it closed.

Our sunshade comes off easily and I have seen how they handle gate checked bags at some airports. I would feel safer it if was at least covered to prevent it from getting dirty and maybe help it to not get any damage. :)

I didn't want to spend the money either, and thought about making one. We ended up using a large duffel bag for our stroller and for the car seat used a laundry bag that we had around the house. Laundry bags are usually only a few dollars and are the same type of bag as the ones on amazon. If it tears, at least you're only out a couple bucks, but ours was fine, just came back a little scuff marked.
