Stroller Bag for Gate Check or Not?

So we own a City Mini and we do have the stroller bag that goes with it fo gate check. However, we had not such a great experience with it last year. We put it in the bag and left it in the pass through with all of the other strollers. It had a gate check tag. When we got to MCO, it was nowhere to be found. It turns out they threw it in with the luggage. So I got to haul a very heavy 17 month old and our carry-ons halfway across the airport and then wait for the baggage to be unloaded on the carousel even thought we had our baggage sent to the resort. I was not happy!!!

So I am really debating bringing it this year. I know it is a good idea but it is really cumbersome for us to carry around. Also, maybe there is a better way to mark that a stroller is inside??? Any ideas?

I also have the bag for the city mini so I understand what you are saying. I know its bulky, but personally I would much rather have a bulky bag to deal with than a damaged or dirty stroller.

Ive seen it recommended to use neon duct tape and mark the sides of the bag with "stroller" in big letters. You could also write "gate check". You could print off a page with "stroller" and a picture of a stroller, laminate it, and duct tape it to the sides too.

Thanks the neon duct tape is a great idea! I think I will try that this year. I know I will regret not using the bag if it gets all dirty.
