Hi Im hoping for a bit of inspiration from other moms my dd is 2 1/2 and turns 3 the month after we return from our vacation. At the momment she never uses a stroller refuses point blank to even sit in it. Now my question is would you risk leaving it at home for wdw or do u think even the most stubborn child will eventually get in it after a few hours in the park??
We are travelling from the uk so leaving it behind would be a great help with luggage space but an awful waste of money to hire one or have to buy one when we are out in orlando
Thanks x

OK, I'm not being snarky or anything, but have you ever been to WDW before? It is a ton of walking. Personally I would bring it. Or, if you're hiring a rental car, you could leave it, and swing by Walmart or something, and pick up a cheap one. Also, WDW sells these strollers for about $40 which is a lot cheaper than a rental over the course of several days. They are not the highest quality but a 3yr old would fit in one just fine and the handles are a reasonable height for the average person. Just another option, but if you do buy one, you might want to think of some way to personalize it a bit so someone else doesn't mistake it for the one they bought, and walk off with it. ;)

hth!

My boys are very active and still used a stroller at WDW at 3yo. At 5yo, my older DS used one part of the time (it was a 10 day trip, so lots and lots of walking). At 6yo, my older DS didn't use a stroller until the very last evening, when his legs had had enough walking.

I'd plan that she will need some kind of stroller, unless you plan to carry her a lot. You might be able to buy one online and have it delivered directly to the resort.

I really think you will need it! Our last trip my dd was 4yo and though she walked most of the time, they get tired after awhile! She needed to sit occassionaly. She definitely did not use it the majority of the time, but unless you plan to carry your child some, I would bring it!:thumbsup2

When we first took our ds he was just turned 4 and we never took his stroller. Well we learnt the hard way and on our 3rd day we bought the umbrella one they were selling in the shops. His 1st day we were in MK for 10 hours and he managed fine but never really recovered from his tiredness and the 2nd day he was very grumpy so by the 3rd day to make everyones life easier we bought one.
I would say bring it and if she really does manage to walk you will have somewhere to carry your bag.

Heck no I wouldn't leave it at home. There's no way in the world I would go to WDW with a 2 1/2 year old without a stroller. There were times my 6 year old would be sitting in the sit n stand. I'd definetly take it. It's a lot of walking, and if for nothing else (this is why I got a sit n stand for my 2- one being 6) at least you'll be able to put her in it when it's really crowded or at closing ect. and there's no chance to lose her. You'll have a great time, but take the stroller:)

ok so everyone thinks im a nut for even considering it !! on your advice Ill take my stroller she has a pretty much brand new p3 so i may as well take that as its had no use at home.
Thanks for the advice and so quickly too !!

No, not nuts!!:goodvibes just a little unrealistic maybe. That is why I asked if you had ever been to WDW before. Some people just don't realize how much walking you do there.

My dd will be 3 in March and although she usually doesn't use a stroller much at home I do take it to WDW. We don't always take it to the park if we are going to break in the day and go back to the hotel. As the holiday goes on we push our children harder and harder and strollers are a nice place for them to have a bit of a rest to "keep it together" and not go into meltdown. It is also useful if you are walking a long way (speeds things up a little).
We do however only use a lightweight umbrella stroller. Couldn't be dealing with a big one but that is my preference.

I know you already got your answer, but I just wanted to give you a bit of reassurance...

My kids have never used strollers. (We had to buy them for the trip.) They were 4 and 2 (just) when we went and they rode in those strollers the ENTIRE time we were there. When we came out of an attraction they hopped right in, relaxed, and looked around while we walked at an adult pace to our next destination. Even at the resort they sat in them until we had to fold them up to get on the bus and we couldn't unfold them quick enough for them to hop back in when we got off. For some reason, they just decided that they were at Disney and should just be magically strolled around to wherever we were headed. Like you, I was worried that we would be fighting to get them to sit in the strollers and would have to push them and try to keep the kids from running off all day, but we were pleasantly surprised. :goodvibes

Have you checked into the stroller swaps on the budget boards?? That might be a good alternative for you- that way you would have a stroller to use, but you won't have to bring one with you. That is what we are going to do (well, kind of- I am bringing my small McLaren for my 18 month old to use while @ airport, etc., but then we are swapping a double incase my DS5 needs to hitch a ride at all @ the parks--- it is A LOT of walking).
