We are returning to the world in January and have a new arrival coming with us and have a ew questions. Does anyone have or use or recommend using the storage bag to cover car seats when you gate check them? We are not sure if they are really necessary. Along the same line we have a double stroller we will be bringing is there any need to by a cover up for it to store at gate check ins? We are thinking of the stroller storage cover for more of cleansliness reasons and damage problems. So if anyone has one or uses one or has any tips or expierences we would appreciate it thanks.

I have gate checked my stroller (without a bag) with no problem. Just remove any cup holders or straps that could get tangled or pulled off. I know many people suggest a bag if you are checking the carseat. They are pretty rough with "luggage" so I would certainly do that if I was check it with my luggage. I would be less inclined to worry about it if I gate checked it. But when we go to Disney, we have not needed the carseat since we use ME and the Disney buses (and don't use it on the plane either.)

We bought some stroller bags off line. These things were huge! We put 2 single strollers (could have put 3) in one bag. I bet if you can find one of these it would fit your car seat and stroller both. It was made by alphabet something or other (I can't remember the full name right now). It also had a shoulder strap besides the smaller hand straps.

We just put the gate check tag on the handle of the bag and sent it on its way. One of them did come back with a small hole in it, but the strollers came back safe and sound. It was a piece of mind thing more than anything else, but worked great for us.

we fly between 1 and 3 times a year. We use a bag for both our carseat and stroller and those bags are BEAT UP. I would def use a bag.

I use a bag for my car seat and love it. It is so big that I am thinking about putting stroller in with it this trip.

We used a bag to gate check our stroller, just to keep it clean and dry. It's a red bag that says "Gate Check" on it. We bought it at Babies R Us for $12. We thought about gate checking our car seat on this upcoming trip, but we don't want to drag it through the airports so we bought a padded bag and are going to check it with our luggage instead.

Maybe I am missing something here, but why would someone gate check a car seat? Why not check it with the other luggage if you aren't going to use it on the plane?

Because you want to make sure it arrives when and where you do or because checked luggage usually gets thrown around by quite a few people before it reaches the plane and then when it arrives at the destination airport as well and you want to minimize any potential damage.

If you don't want to spend money on a special bag for your car seat, you can also just use a lawn and leaf bag and tie it up. We did that when we checked ours (Britax Boulevard) with our luggage. We double bagged it, tapped it all over and it came out in perfect shape. If it can hold up to checking in with luggage, I know it will hold up to gate checking
