I am bringing my 8 month old (in Dec) to DL. I have a Bjorn carrier now and a good size single stroller. I was wondering if there is a better carrier I can get for her being as she will be bigger by then. I am guessing somewhere between 18-20 lbs. Also, should I bring the larger stroller or buy a smaller umbrella stroller? Or rent one? How much does renting one cost?

i brought my bjorn, but didn't use it once. don't know why...maybe i was too lazy to put it on?! anyways, my dd is 8 months now and we were there just last week. i carried her in line for toy story mania for about 25 minutes...not fun! she's about 20lbs. that was the one day i wish i hadn't left the carrier in the hotel room. i'm sure other mothers will have other recommendations for carriers.

we did MM on thursday so the lines were pretty quick...so no big deal holding her in line. for nemo friday morning, we had the stroller in line for as long as we could, then i think i had to carry her for 15 minutes or so. we were lucky that morning because astroblasters and jungle cruise were walk-ons that morning after nemo.

as for the stroller, i'd bring my own. if the baby was older, then maybe you could do the umbrella stroller. if you have a disney visa, stroller rental at DL is free. otherwise, i think it's about $10-$12/day. we brought out double stroller. yes, it a bit big, but i was surprised to see the number of double strollers in the park! i swear, every other stroller i saw was a double stroller!

Ergo Ergo Ergo! WAaaaaaaaay better for you and baby. You won't be able to carry her facing away from you on your front, if that's by chance what you've gotten used to, but that's OK. You could even try wearing her on your back in the Ergo, when she's very awake (or already asleep, since it has a "hood" thing to contain a sleeping head, LOL).

Renting their strollers is $11 per day, I believe. If you have a Disney Visa you can get two FREE rentals per day at DLR. The strollers aren't awful, either. BUT, and know that I haven't brought an 8 month old to DLR but rather we started when DS was 16 months old, it's always been the walk back, to the hotel or to the tram then parking lot then car, that's been the beastliest when it comes to HEAVY kiddo. But you'll have the Ergo (or Beco or a mei tai even !) so it won't be your arms carrying her, and it will be relatively easy.:goodvibes

Again... ERGO (or a beco). Both are ergonomically correct and you will have a happy baby. Back carry is totally wonderful there. And, it gets them up nice and high to see more than the rear end of the person in front of them.

As an added bonus, you can wear your kiddo through security at the airport! This makes life so much easier. You have two free hands to manage everything else.

I would totally use your own stroller. We bring ours and gate check it in a stroller bag - which actually has extra room for diapers, wipes, blankets, and whatever else. We use the extra room for dirty clothes on the way home, lol! However, it depends on your stroller too... We take our Maclaren Quest but I don't think I would personally bring my Peg Perego P3.

I was there 2 weeks ago. DS is also 8 months. I had my BabyHawk carrier with me, and never used it. It was just too hot when we were there, to have 22lbs strapped to me. We took a lightweight umbrella stroller (Maclaren Volo) with us, and ds was fine in that. DH and I would just switch back and forth holding him in lines. We never did make it on Toy Story. Everytime we went to go on it the line was 45 mins. No way were we holding him that long, and he wouldn't have stood for it either.

Ergo, Beco, Patapum, or Sutemi are your best bets. Easy to use and can be used for a front or back carry.

Get a Disney Visa and you get free stroller rental at the park. Otherwise it is $14/day I think (trying to remember, we used the Visa). You also get 10% off purchases of $50 or more at most of the shops, and you don't have to pay with your Visa to get it, just show it.
