I know that many people gate check thier strollers, however I'm afraid that the sroller will get damaged. Has anyone had this happen. I'd prefer that I put the stroller back in the nice Mcclaren box from wence it came. Is this allowed? Could i put it in the box at gate check or would I have to do it another way? thanks

I don't beleive that you can gate chesk your stroller if you put it in the box, BUT you can get a stroller bag at Babies r us or online at one step ahead for about $20 that you can put your stroller into and gate check. I have a wheel chair for my daughter that we always gate check and we have received a few minor scratches, but nothing major. They will hand carry your stroller to just under the plane so when you land it is at the door of the aircraft.

I have checked our stroller at the gate a bunch of times, and it always came back in the same condition as when I left it. I can't imagine dealing with the hassle of a box, but I think a bag carrier would be a great option. I know Babies R Us carries bags and I'm sure you could find one to fit your stroller online.

Does United allow you to gate check your stroller? I emailed them and asked about it and the reply was no I cannot do that but I'm going to call and make sure, maybe she didn't understand what I meant. We've done it before on Air Canada and WestJet but this time we're using United.

Every (reasonable) airline allows you to gate-check strollers. It's just common sense. Check Delta's website.
