Stroller advice

We are going with 2 boys 8 and 5. We are renting a stroller... they may not need to"ride" in it during the day, but it is a cooler place for them to sit, ride if they want and it won't break Papa'said back as he and mom carry the boys asleep to the room at night.
Will you be renting from the park or an outside company?

I think your kids are too big for a Disney stroller. Plus they are hard plastic and would not be comfortable. I'd rent a single from an outside company. It will be easier to get on and off buses that way. They are old enough to trade off rides if the older one really needs to ride.

Parks really are easier without a stroller at all. I am so glad we don't need one anymore (my son stopped using one by the time he was 4 at Disney). If you can get away without using one I highly recommend it. You add a lot of steps to your day having to go back to the stroller parking area after every ride.

We took our then 4 year old and 8 year old last December and we didn't need a stroller. It was nice not to deal with one. As long as we went at the 4 year old's pace and didn't try to open and close the park we were fine. Honestly my 8 year old wouldn't even fit in one if I let him and I think the walking is good for him. I had a father growing up who wanted to"get his money's worth" out of vacations and it was exhausting and stressful. Luckily my dh is much more like me and we're more laid back. I think it's made for happier kids.

Hi All,

I am bringing my 7 and 5 year old in November for the first time and am trying to decide if I should rent the disney strollers or rent from an online company. My boys are 50 and 60lbs and are 46" and 52" tall. I want to do what's easiest for park hopping and navigating the parks. Any thoughts or previous experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Think about it. You will be pushing about 120lb (the size of a small adult) through the parks every day. That is a lot of work on your part.

I have also found that touring parks without a stroller is a lot less hassle than touring with. As someone else said, you are adding a lot of steps to your day. Park stroller, ride, get off ride and walk back to where the stroller is parked, find the stroller, because it has often been moved, and then push the stroller back past where you originally started to the next ride and repeat.

At 7 and 5 they should be fine. After all, it is not non-stop walking, and if you are going in November the weather won't be as draining as it is in the summer, and the park hours aren't, generally, as long.

Hi! I am renting a stroller from an offsite company for our upcoming last minute trip. My 5yo is a walker and my thought process is we will most likely need it on the park days I have planned for late afternoon til close. DBF thinks I'm crazy but he will be appreciative when she's passed out by 10 and no one has to carry her. lol
But if you are taking a Disney bus, you'll have to wake her up to get on the bus. No strollers opened up on the buses.

It's better to have a stroller and not need it than wish you had one. The stroller parking is great. Epcot is definitely hard on little ones who have already been doing lots of walking at other parks. We have 4 kids and rent the double City Mini ( the largest one). Even with the 2 heaviest in it at the weight limit it's a breeze to push. I don't get all the bashing over bringing a stroller. My youngest is 2 and I've already sold our stroller, at home but there is no way I would do Disney without a stroller for the 2, 4, and 6 year old. For those with kids that do well without - I think that's super but nothing wrong with choosing to take or rent one. You can always leave it in the room if it's not needed.

I guess I'm not seeing any "bashing" people are simply offering opinions. I have a lot of kids. I have traveled with and without a stroller, and from my personal experience it has just been less of a hassle not to have one.
