Hi!
We are wondering what is the best stroller option for us. We will have a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old on our Disney trip.
Does anyone have advice on whether we should use our double jogger (is it going to be too wide and cumbersome?)......or we have thought about buying a "Sit and Stand stroller"....that way our two year old can hop on and off easily.
We also could rent....but I figure it is so expensive we ought to bring our own...that way we could guarantee storage space, comfort, etc.
Any thoughts/suggestions based on your experiences?
Thanks!

Have you looked at the Joovy sit and stand? It is perfect!

I have taken the sit and stand and this next trip I purchased the Baby Jogger City Series Double.... the sit and stand has a great concept, and I love the fact that my DD can hop in and out whenever she wants to. The reason we are not bringing it again on this trip is that my DD could not sleep/relax when she wanted to. We do have the larger sit and stand from a few years back, and it does have the option of adding the second seat, but it is alot of bother. So, she only had the bench, or stand part as options. As it ended up, when she wanted to really relax my mother rented the double stroller in addition to having our own double!!!!! So, this time I wanted something that they can sit next to eachother, and that she can relax in too. I hope this helps from someone who has been there done that. Have a wonderful trip... when are you going? If I get back first, I can let you know how it was with the Baby Jogger, (If it ever gets here from the Ebay seller!) :wave2:

I dont have an 8 month old to consider, my younger is 14 months so we have a very different set of circumstances.

I liked the sit and stands until I thought about all that there was to see in the world while walking around. If my 3 year old gets tired and he chooses to sit, all he will get to see of the world is mommy's crotch... so we got a side by side narrow umbrella stroller

its all so hard

I just bought a Joovy for our upcoming trip. I have a 14 mos old daughter and a 4.5 yr old son. Ive tested it out around the mall and zoo and it works pretty good. I dont know how comfortable it will be for my DD to nap in it though since it doesnt recline much. However, she can sleep about anywhere.

We took a side by side reclining double stroller when we took DD4 anf DS11months (at the time). The only time it was inconvenient was on the buses to and from the resort because we had to take everything out and fold it up but it was well worth it for the comfort and storage.

I haven't read anyone's post; I want to give you an uninfluenced opinion.

Yes, with children that age, you should, imo, bring your own stroller. It is better for napping, much more comfortable, familiar which gives a safe feeling, storage, etc.

I've used the sit-n-stand, and I don't recommend it. I hate that stroller period. Although, I've heard some new type of sit-n-stand mentioned and that one might be way different. Mine's two years old. That thing is hard to fold, bulkier than our travel system, double, & double jogger combined. I could never get to the basket if the older child was on it or if the younger child was napping. Plus, while the basket appears large, it really isn't if there will be a second child on it. The older child can not nap on it and with a 2 1/2 yo at WDW, there will most likely be a nap needed in the stroller. The reclining also isn't all that great for the younger child if the older child is sitting--they tend to bump each other. Of course, that's MY experience.

Now I've taken a double jogger to WDW. And of all the strollers we've taken, that was by far the best choice. I'll be doing it again in Dec. for our 2yo & 15 month old (age at time of travel). Now some of it could really depend on what jogger you have. Mine's great for that. I had very little problem on the buses, it sat in front of my feet. I had no problems getting through any of the turnstiles at MGM, Epcot, or AK. MK was a tight fit, but far from impossible. And in the parks, that stroller was a dream!! At the time we had our 4 yo and 15 month old in it. I posted a review on using it when we got back on the family boards in June 2005 for many more specifics.

Some of the things about my jogger that are so wonderful: The front wheel locks or swivels. I think a swivel wheel is pretty important in the parks. Ours also has the front wheel under the footstand instead of sticking out in front which helps a lot. It is no wider than the rentals, or longer either--we actually did measure. Our two seats fully recline or sit up, seperately. When reclined our stroller doesn't suddenly get bigger. I have big pockets and a divided big basket underneath. The seats our comfy (according to our oldest) and then have extra padding--nice for throwing in the washing machine if they get dirty. There is a large canopy that covers top and sides. We also have a sun shade & rain cover which came in handy. It folds easy, and is very compact when folded.

When we went last year with my DD2 and DD1 we took two Combi Travel Savvy strollers. They were perfect because there were times when we needed to split up and my husband had one of the girls and I had the other and we both had strollers. Also, that particular stroller is good because it's extremely lightweight, reclines fully, folds tiny, has a carrying strap, and a good sized basket for your bag. I absolutely cannot imagine how we would have done the trip with our sit and stand. I can hardly get it into my mini-van let alone bring it on the bus with me, and two tired babies! :) I saw a lot of people with doubles though so I'm sure it's not impossible. Maybe I'm just a wimp. haa haa haa. (Actually, maybe I was just trying to justify new strollers. I'm a bit of a stroller addict!)

I would opt for two small umbrella type strollers. My kids were close in age and we found it easier to have two strollers so each parent could be responsible for one kid. We also found it to be a much cheaper option than renting and loved the fact that we had strollers when we were outside of the parks.

Just remember, if you do bring two strollers, nobody will ever have a free hand. Something that does not work for us, especially since we have an older child too.

I am not sure about this but do they make double umbrella strollers? A 2 year old will get very tired and want to just sit at times, my almost 5 year old is still like that when we go places. I will have a 14 month old and a 5 year old on our next trip and we are bringing 2 strollers so they can both be comfy, a happy child in Disney World makes for a much better trip for everyone!

I think Jeep makes a pretty lightweight double stroller(side by side), also Chicco has a good one, Maclaren has nice ones and combi..check them all out.
