String's Atkin's Journal (Please Comment)

It was nice today, so I went for a 2 mile walk with DD. It was a struggle to get her to ride in the stroller. That won't work often.

I called DH to say that I wasn't cooking dinner. We went to Outback Steakhouse. I had a ceasar salad sans croutons, ant the outback special steak. Steamed veggies.

When I got home, I found out that my friend had passed her RN boards. She's working tomorrow, so I've got one of beachgirl's cheesecakes in the oven now. Guess I'm cooking after all. I'm going to surprise her tomorrow with the cake and some flowers.

I had 4 stawberries that I scraped the batter bowl with. YUMMY! I barely squeak by with the bear tonight. Phew. I've only had 2.5 liters of water. I'm shooting for 1 more before bed. Weigh in is in the AM.

I'm gearing up for my weekend. I should be only working 16 hrs on Friday, but I might pick 8 hrs up on Saturday. I'll see how short staffed we are. I'll make a veggie quiche and salad.

Question: Does the no meat on Friday end at midnight. I'll probably eat at 2AM Saturday morning. Does that have to be vegetarian meal. I will eat b/l/d no meat on Friday, but does it extend because my day goes for 30+ hours. :scratchin

Well, I'm off to make the rounds. Have a ood one.
Beth

Just wanted to stop in and say HI! I was sitting here thinking about taking DS's out for a walk tomorrow and how far away from home I'd get before they wanted out of the stroller when I read your post....that's funny. Well hope ya had a good day! Talk to ya soon!!

Holly:wave2:

Beth - I would say, since your abstaining from meat for B/L/D, 2 AM Sat would be fine to add back meat. I mean, its not like your gonna burn in **** because of a technicality. Seriously, if you've made an effort to sacrafice on Friday, you don't need to continue just because you haven't gone to bed yet.

How old is DD? 3.5? Try getting one of those child seats for the back of your bike. Wow! what a workout you can get that way! My DS loved going on the bike like that, and he was never a child who was satisfied to sit still!::yes:: My DD loved going for long walks in the stroller. Of course, she was like 6 yrs old and STILL wanting to ride in it! Gosh, she was lazy (and still is! )

Get some rest today to gear up for your crazy weekend schedule.Take care of you!!::yes::

:jumping1: BUH-BYE 2 POUNDS. HELLO NEW CLIPPIE!:jumping1:

Weigh in was 228.5, exactly what I needed for my 40 pound clippie. I'm claiming it before it slips away. 40 pounds was elusive. I had hit a plateau. I am very excited about this. I couldn't have done it without all my fellow WISHERS. Thanks for the support.

Obviously, everything is :sunny: in my world today. DD slept until 8AM. I've done my 3 mile tape. I've had 1 liter of water. The cheesecake is perfect, no cracks. The quiche is in the oven.

Breakfast was a slice of peanut butter toast and green tea.

I've got to head to target today. We might stop at the mall.so DD can burn some energy on the playscape. We'll see how she behave in Target.

Sharon and Holly, I had to laugh with your posts. My DD's theme song is Miss Independent. She's 3.5 going on 33. For her bday in May, we're getting her a 10 inch bike. I'll get my workouts running after her.

I hope everyone enjoys the next few days. I'll try to check in when I can.
:sunny:
Beth

Rough day at work. I lost a 25 year old. It's always worse when they're young. I was so busy, I didn't eat. Which means I didn't even get a piece of the cheesecake I made. No one saved me any. I'm working another 16 hrs tonight. I need sleep. Not working out today. Will figure out food later.

Have a good one.
Beth

:jumping1: OH YEAH!!! NEW CLIPPEE!!!:jumping1:
It looks great Beth! Good for you! I bet your still dancing!:cool1:
Those plateaus can be so tough on the whole journey. They make you want to throw in the towel at times. But you didn't! You kept pushing and made it to the other side! WTG!!!

I hope you have a great weekend. Get some rest. I know your schedule is kinda wacky compared to the rest of us.
Just take it slow and think about those 40 lbs that are gone! That's 8 sacks of potatoes! Wouldn't want to carry THAT around for long!

DD sounds like a whirlwind! You will definitely get some exercise trying to keep up with her and her bike!;)

Have a good one Beth and congratulations!!!!:sunny:

Oh Beth, I am so sorry! It sounds like yesterday was a really tough day for you. Please make sure that you just sleep and rest as much as you can today in preparation for another 16 hour day. I hope that you will have time on Sunday to rest and relax and enjoy the warmer weather if it is coming your way. Here's some :sunny: and a  to help you through your day today.

Thanks everyone for your support. Like I said earlier. I couldn't have stuck with this journey without your support.

Today is shaping up to be a better day/days. I got 6.5 hours of sleep and feel pretty good. DD heard me this morning talking with DH about my patient. She heard my alarm and came to cuddle. A great way to start the day. Here's our conversaton.
She said," Are you still sad because your patient died?"
I said, "A little, but mommy will be ok."
Katie,"Mommy, everyone has to die. That's how God makes the Angels to help keep us safe."

It floored me. We've not really discussed death with Katie. Fortunately, we haven't needed to. Won and I keep saying she's an old soul. This really brought that home.

I'm proud of myself. I stuck up for myself. I will generally go to bat for anyone else. but will get walked all over personally. They wanted to put me in charge again tonight. Did it last night, won't do it tonight. I've been incharge every shift, but 3 in 2004. It is someone else's turn. I told them other people need to become competent at it, so they can only learn by doing. That is why I get a few minutes of computer time.

Breakfast: 2 eggs and toast green tea.
Snack: Some strawberries.
Dinner will be a pork chop and salad.

I won't get too much sleep. There is a summer camp seminar at 11AM, and my uncle's bday party at 6PM. I'll manage 3.5 hours of sleep. I will go to bed with Katie Sunday.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.. Enjoy the :sunny:
Beth

Beth, so sorry to hear about your patient. Your daugher sounds like such a sweetie. You know saying, " Out of the mouths of babes..."

Congratulations on breaking through that plateau, woo hoo!:jumping1: Hope you're getting enough rest this weekend. Take care Beth.:D

Hang in there Beth. Remember that everything has a reason. It all fits into the big plan. Try to rest when you can . Have a great week.:grouphug:

Aww, Beth. I'm so sorry about the loss of your patient.
Why is it children are so wise? Maybe it's because they're so fresh from God themselves. Give that Katie a hug from me. (But you can pretend it's from you.:D )

Beth, congratulations on your new clippie. Here's a bounce for every ten you've lost:
:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
What an accomplishment! I have so much respect for your strength and commitment. You're quite a lady. I was all smiles on Friday over the fact that we received our new clippies on the same day.

Beth, I know I said I'd pm you with the Lenten suggestions from our church bulletin, but I figure I'd post them here instead in case anyone else was interested. I know that we're almost four days into Lent already, but better late than never, right?

Developing Habits of Faith:

Inward and Personal Discipline--

*Share in a Lenten Bible study.
*Read twice through the Gospel of Luke
*Keep a journal of prayer concerns, thoughts, readings
*focus on thanksgiving, rather than asking, in prayer.
*give yourself a gift of three hours to do something you always say you don't have time to do.
*find a way to go to bed earlier or to sleep in so you get the rest you need.
*makea list of people with whom you need to be reconciled. Pray for them and let Jesus guide you in your thinking and feeling toward them.
*take control of your life by _____________
*attend worship or devotions on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday.
*take one hour to inventory your priorities and plan how you will reorder them.
*give up a grudge or rehearsal of a past event.
*read a Lenten devotional daily.
*spend time in solitude each day.

Outward and Social Disciplines
*take on some loving task.
*plan to visit a "shut-in" neighbor or church member weekly.
*write a letter of affirmation once a week to a person who has touched your life.
*go to coffee or dinner with someone you want to know better.
*give blood and recall the cross.
*invite a friend or neighbor ot church.
*say "no" to something that is a waste of time and money.
*pray to God to help you resist racial prejudice and to give you the courage to actively oppose it.
*find out a way to live out the baptismal promise to "resist evil, injustice, and oppression."

Maybe one of these will be something you'd like to pursue? Just thought I'd share, in any case.

Beth, have a good week. Know that your life as a mom, wife, and nurse, is a meaningful one, and that so many are blessed by your presence. I know I'm blessed by your support!

 ,
Erin

Beth,

Your dd sounds so sweet. Sorry to hear about your patient. Hope you get some much needed rest.

Holly

I'm moving pretty slow today. It was a whirlwind weekend. Work was ok on Suturday/Sunday. DH took DD to the summer camp seminar on Sunday, so I could sleep. I got 4.5 hours before I had to get ready for the party. It was interesting. While the kids played, and the older generation talked. the people in my age group played poker. I've never played, and it was beginner's luck/sleep deprivation that made me daring. It was a 10 buy in. I ended up taking home $120. It was fun, even if I hadn't won. When we got home, I got sucked into the oscars. Not smart. One question, Does Peter Jackson own a comb?

Breakfast: Coffee and atkin's bar in car.
Dinner: Salad, prime rib, beans, shrimp.

No cake for me. I did consume too much sodium this weekend. My rings aren't fitting well at all. Today is measurement day at Curves. I'll post a month in review after that.

Erin, thank you for those suggestions. I'm going to implement a few of them. My goal to exercise everyday wasn't realisitic. My schedule on the weekends it to insane. I will try to exercise 6x/week though.

I'm sorry I've not posted to anyone's journals. I will try to do so today. Thank you for all your support. Please know that I have all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

hey beth, your weekend always sounds like a whirlwind! not just this one! i'm so proud of you for sticking up for yourself though, and making someone else take charge of that shift. you need to do that for yourself, for sure.

and no, i don't think peter jackson owns a comb. i did girls night at my friends house and we watched the oscars, but we both pooped out around 9:30, so i went home and to sleep! i don't know how you managed to stay up for that, especially after your weekend!

hope you have a wonderful day today :sunny:

Good morning Beth!
I hope you have a chance to relax after your busy weekend. And you brought home $120, huh? Wow! Great job! Hope everything goes well at Curves today. Take care and have a gr8 Monday!:Pinkbounc :sunny:

Good morning Beth!
Wow what a weekend!! Kudos to you for that schedule. I know it is probably second nature to you, but all I can say is WOW!
Sorry about losing your patient. I can not begin to undersatnd how that must feel. And kids understand so much more than we give them credit for. Sometimes I think things really are as simple as kids make them seem. It kinda makes sense, doesn't it? But Katie certainly sounds precious!
Speaking of precious.....Peter Jackson needs some sort of style help, huh? I commented to my DH about the very same thing!!
Hope you have a great day today Beth! Here's some extra :sunny: to help you through!!

Marcia, Sjharon, and Tracey, thanks for your support.

I just got back from Curves. I really pushed myself today. I did 3 circuits at my max capacity. I need to do that everytime. I got weighed today.
For the Month of February:
I am down 5 pounds and 6.25 inches
I stayed on program/cheat free 27/29 days or 96.9%
I went to Curves 11 times
I walked 22 miles and ran 2 miles

I am very happy with these statistics. Inspired by Amanda, I've set goals for March.

1.) I will drink at least 3 liters of water everyday. 100% goal
2.) I will remain Cheat free 28/31 days or 90%
3.) I will exercise at least 4x week, preferrably 5x.
4.) I will remember my meds/vitamins. 100% goal
5.) I will count my blessings daily. 100% goal
6,) I will limit my intake of caffiene. 80% goal/25 days

I think this is a great way to renew my committment to my new way of life. Thanks Amanda.
