Greetings, one and all! Longtime lurker and seldom poster, I have spent the last week plotting and planning, planning and plotting, and can report that I have successfully convinced my beloved DW that we need to take our little DS (7 months, born New Years Day) to Disney next year. After all, he's free until he's three, and the clock be tickin'....

Next up: using the powers of guilt to convince my parents (who live in NY, and will be seeing DS for the first time in person in 6 days) that they need to come with us, after all, if you can only see your ONLY GRANDSON once or twice a year, what better way than to spend 2 weeks with him than at WDW and experiencing it thru his eyes? Oh yes, I will be working them over hard :stir: ....

SO.... original plan had me waiting another month until both Star Wars Celebration Europe and D23 were over so we could see if the next stateside Star Wars convention would be back in Orlando, but I decided the only real reason we'd be going would be more to meet up with a few online friends to show off by handsome son, and WDW in mid August might be too much for him (assuming that's when it would be. We also considered they'd hold off the next convention until May 2015 for the next movie, but that is waitinig too long, IMHO). After doing some research, we settled on September, as crowds will be light, don't need to worry about pulling him out of school, and most importantly, the last few years Free Dining always happened in September, so we feel pretty good about our chances for a repeat. Now, to just get my parents on board....

LET THE COUNTDOWN COMMENCE! party:

So, as the updated thread title suggests, the deal has been altered.

DisneyWorld out, Disneyland in. :wizard:

April 2015, we'll be spending 5 glorious days in beautiful Anahiem, California for Star Wars: Celebration, and another 5 days at Disneyland. It'll not only be my son's first trip, but ours as well, as neither myself or DW have been to Disneyland. This works out amazingly well, as not only does it give us another 6 months to plan/acquire funds, but it also means an extra tax refund will be in play now as well. Plus, he'll be a little older, and that can mean a world of difference. As the wife and I do dress up for SW stuff (I'm in the Dark Empire costuming club, and DS is actually a member of the Galactic Academy, a SW costume group for the under 18 set), our DS is around costumed people all the time and is fine with it. Mickey and the gang might be a different matter tho, as they're not quite as humanoid as, say, a stormtrooper.

Plan right now is to drive out, but haven't decided if doing DL first and the the con, or vice versa :)

"I'm altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further (because I've already made my deposit and ressies)" - Darth Vader

Okay. Final change. Disneyland and Star Wars Celebration Anaheim cancelled. Just could not justify spending that kind of money when for half the price we can have a better time at The World. SO, I went ahead and made the Executive Decision to take the DW and DS to DisneyWorld this August. The free Memory Maker package was the thing that pushed me to do this. That, and I've just been itching to go sooooooo badly as of late....

Will be calling the grandparents tonight to let them know, and see if they want to come down. I've already managed to get reservations for Crystal Palace for all of us if they choose to come down. I do believe I have covered all the bases.

So, full speed ahead! These next 20 weeks are gonna be hard to get thru, but it'll all be worth it!

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: GUILT TRIP
Little boy's grandparents are coming down! BONUS POINTS: I inadvertently scheduled the trip the same weekend as my dad's birthday! SWEET!

So they'll be flying down, and we'll be driving out. Everyone staying at All Star Sports, and hoping to get connecting rooms; I'll be calling about that later. Right now it's on to putting together our travel pack. The realization we're going to need a box of pull-ups just cut down our available trunk space

Less than 18 weeks!
