*Strictly Come Dancing 2008*

the BBC should have frozen Tom and Camilla's phone line tonight because any votes for them were futile - it was mathematically impossible for them to avoid the dance off.

Alot of people complained and IMO all 3 are through to the final to avoid another phone-vote scandal.

therefore they should have been in the dance off then :confused3

I'm looking forward to next week.

I didn't actually think Lisa's Quick step was worth 40:confused3
Teaching dancing my self, I was dissappointed too with Tom and Camilla's performances, they are usually really good.

Oh well, see what happens next week, I'll decide then who I'm going to vote for

:sad2: nope not happy about that at all !!!!! Tom would have gone tonight and now he can dance better next week and win it !!! sorry thats not on

I agree Nat! Cheeky or what!??? :furious: I'm really not pleased - just goes to show how rigged these things are I suppose... :confused3

Exactly. I'm somewhat disillusioned if the person who came last isn't who 'they' wanted to be ousted so gets kept in regardless... :sad2:

I'd like to say I'm not watching next week but I love the professional dancing too much and won't want to miss that...

Tom could have danced out of his skin in the dance off and been put through. No one can say for sure that he wouldn't have been in the final next week.

Seems a bit odd to me as the producers wouldn't just suddenly decide to have 3 couples in the final rather than 2. There has to be some adjustment to the number of dances each couple does or other timings to accommodate another couple so this must have at least been considered as a possibility before last night. In all other phone vote elimination shows it is made clear to the viewers, if not the contestants, that nobody will be leaving even though phone lines are open.

Personally I record it and only watch the Rachel Stevens bits so it doesn't bother me but it does seem like a waste of week.

They originally planned to have 3 couples in the final, it was John Sergeants departure that put it back to being just 2.

T'he problem with SCD is that they're always saying 'Vote for your favourite' and 'Vote to save who you don't want to see in the dance-off', and if that was said last night (not that I heard it) then there was no way Tom could've been saved from the dance off

It was those kind of comments that kept John Sergeant in for so long

I know that Tom should've left last night, but I am thrilled he is still in it, as I have found him really entertaining all season

It'll be a shame when it's finished, but then we'll have Dancing on Ice to look forward to in the New Year

Even more reason then to make it clear at the start of last night's show that nobody would be going and all votes would be rolling over to next week. Yet again it's "let's create some drama and push the ratings up and never mind the voting public". That's why I never vote on these types of shows any more even if I have a clear favourite.

I am getting fed up of the beeb deciding for us. They should have frozen all of the phone lines if they wanted to keep up the suspense. people have parted with cash, when it was a lose/lose situation for Tom. Shame on you BBC.:sad2:

I haven't been around but I did watch SCD from my sick bed:sick: I was very disappointed with the outcome of the show, I would have been livid if I'd have voted.
Lisa has shown the most improvement through the weeks but Tom was very disappointing and deserved to leave IMHO. I think both Tom and Austin got so wrapped up the the thrill of beating each other with their friendly rivalry that they took their eyes off the other contestants who ended up improving and dancing better than them.
I'd like to say I won't be watching the final but I'm sure I will......

Well I'll stick up for the BBC. I think the BBC was in a no win situation really, whatever they did they probably would have been criticised. (Forgetting the John S stuff) the whole point of the phone vote is that the public can always save anybody even if they come last with the judges, but because of the tie at the top this wasn't possible and therefore it was likely that Tom was going home. If they'd carried on as normal people would have complained that voting for Tom was a waste of time but that they wanted to save him.

The BBC should have thought about what to do in this situation before it happened though and in hindsight they probably should have made Len as head judge pick between Lisa and Rachel as to who should be top of the leadboard for example Lisa goes top as she got 40/40 and gets 3 points Rachel comes second with 2 points and Tom 3 points which then means the public can save Tom if they want to.

I'm voting Lisa to win!

I just find it hard to believe that the BBC didn't see this coming. The Strictly Forums were going bonkers as soon as they realised that Lisa and Rachel had the same points. I'm pleased that they decided to carry the votes over to next week ~ but I just hope that the judges mark properly this week, as I was shocked when Len picked up on mistakes but still gave 10's :confused3

I love to read all the conspiracy theories on the forums that are going around, like the judges wanted both the girls in the final, so gave them the same marks so that Tom couldn't be saved (only that didn't work out ;) )

If you looked at the judges face's when it was announced they all looked really pleased everyone was going through.

I thought Lisa's quickstep was worth 40 points.

I'm pretty sure it's just a public vote this week. The Judges will give opinions on the dances but won't score them.

Oh, I agree Mandy. After all the TV phone vote problems in the past, did the producers really not work out every possible voting scenario?
I was shocked with errors being highlighted and 10 points being awarded too.

The Judge's will be pleased, it makes them look good, after all the John S mess this year, this result makes the judges look angelic:angel:

The one problem the BBC will have with the final is lack of confidence, I think the public have lost confidence in the BBC's ability to handle these shows and the personalities involved.
I bet their voting numbers drop huge amounts this week. I won't vote, I don't trust the BBC.

I'm such a numpty, I did know that :) I'm glad that the public vote will be the one that counts :thumbsup2

Actually, I may be the numpty! I've just been on the SCD forum and some people are saying that the Judges will score this week for the 1st two dances which will be 1 Latin and 1 Ballroom and then these scores will be added to the public vote as per normal - the 3rd placed couple will then be eliminated. Then, the remaining 2 couples perform their show dance which is not marked by the Judges and so the winner is decided on public vote only.

However, Arlene said on BBC News this morning that the Judges have no say in the final at all other than just give their opinions.

Clear as mud? Hopefully Claudia will explain tonight!
