Missy-read the thread.
All the other Catholic Churches allow strapless-its just this one that doesn't. They didn't see this small note , under lots of notes on Liturgy and music and rehearsal, until reading it well after dress purchased.
I guess I'm really missing something. What is the huge deal about complying with church rules? Pop on a bolero, or shawl, get married, and then toss the covering aside on the way to the reception.
I read the thread, trust me. But there were so many different opinions I got things mixed up. I was going by what happens in the Catholic Churches were I live - things like this are covered by the rules of the diocese so a bride couldn't get a different rule in a different church.
But no matter what, the bride in question knows the rule now, so she can go out and buy a coverup herself. End of problem.
It's up to the priest. DD was married in a very old Catholic Church in Italy. The priest allowed a strapless gown with a fingertip length veil of lace, that covered her shoulders.
