HELPPP MEEE!!! i am just shy of 7months pregnant and i have about 4 stretch marks, but they are SOOOOOOOO itchy..is there anything i can do to help relieve this itch?? I rub Palmers cocoa butter on them, but that helps for all of 20 seconds!! thanks!

You can try vitamin e capsules. Makes it easier to apply the vitamin e--but it is like putting on honey. Best to be wearing something cotton and it should be fine wants the vitamin e absorbs.

I had stretch marks that actually would bleed when I scratched them. I use to ice them. Good luck! Consider them a badge of honor!

Thanks for the two suggetions! i am going insane! i mean they itch they hurt they itch!! ARGGG...but thinking of them as a badge of honor is a great idea :)
Thanks again!

sorry!!! they are miserable and I have a ton of them!!!

good for you keeping lotion on them...maybe take a bath in baby oil??

that might help

I can't believe you have two small little ones!! God bless you :wizard:

Ahhh....now a bath sounds good too! i'm determined to get better :) i have ice on my belly and i called my DH and told him to stop for Vit. E capsules on his way home from work! haha..i'm a sucker for anything :)
I like the little party of five saying in your signature MOMOFMNM! i don't know how you do it, with my one DD i am already dragging at the end of the day how will i survive with two?! YIKES! haha :) I'm a big baby (hence the whining about my itchy/achy stretchmarks!!) Thanks again!

Tell your OB; he/she should be able to give you a prescription to treat it; if the OB doesn't know what to prescribe, see a dermatologist. Topical meds for this sort of thing are usually OK as long as you are past 13 weeks, but they should be prescribed by someone who knows what he/she is doing.

I have an itchy skin condition for which I regularly use Rx topical steroids, and I've always been allowed to use them once I passed 13 weeks.

NotUrsula: Thanks for that! i have an appt. on tuesday! i will make sure i mention it to him, it's just recently started getting this bad!! :)

I have 3 kids and no stretch marks;heck, my c-section scar at 4 weeks is starting to disappear again. BUT, I did itch like crazy with my 2nd. I thought I'd go insane!! All I did to releave it, per my OB's advice, was keep my stomach slathered in Cetaphil lotion.

FYI--Stretch marks are caused by rapid weight gain or loss (and I start showing before I can even get a positive on the pregnancy test so my weight gain is very slow) and the itching is caused by dry, stretching skin (and it can happen with slow weight gain).

Most women get stretch marks when they are pregnant. My friend had SIX kids and never got one. My dermatologist told me that some skin types are more prone to them, he said something about the depth of the individual skin layers, age, etc. My solution (after three kids) is.....a tummy tuck. Getting ready to have one, my friend lost all of hers when she had one..and they used her c-section scar line so she is back to wearing her two piece bathing suits. Sign me up!

me too after the 4th one (we want one more) I desperately need one!!!

I even lost a lot of weight and still have a lot of tummy issues because of this (I am not overweight at all) and my tummy is flabby and ICKY

there is a website somewhere that has a bunch of before and afters of tummy tucks...if I find it I will PM you!!

Palmers cocoa butter made them itch WORSE for me!! So, first, I'd suggest trying something else on them to see if it is the culprit.

rt2dz: thanks for the info! Cetaphil it is! haha...last night was horrible that's why i'm on so early! i can't even stand the feeling!!! oh well not much longer to go and a trip to WDW should help alleviate the pain!

Lookingforward & MOMOFMNM: ohhhh a tummy tuck sounds soo fancy! Lookingforward keep us posted! after all this insanity, can i really bring myself to have another?!?

Colinsmom: last night i tried baby oil after a nice bath and still hasn't worked! grr..

The ice so far has been the best idea, it just leaves me a bit chilly in this chicago weather! haha :)

Thanks again everyone! keep em coming!

that I thought would be the death of me with the NON-STOP itching!

I tried Witch Hazel (you get it in Walgreen's by the rubbing alcohol), and put some on a cotton ball and RUB AWAY! I also would put the cotton in my big old granny panties, so I would have constant contact with it.

Towards the end of the pregnancy, even the witch hazel didn't work! Then my husband came home with Benedryl Gel!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh My Goodness!!!!!!!!
Sheer heaven in a bottle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked my ob first, and he said go to it, just don't OVERDUE it! So between the benedryl gel and witch hazel--we made it!

THere is also another product from Japan, called Muhi Muhi. It is used for bug bites, we only had a small bottle and I went through that quick, and that's when I tried the witch hazel. One down side, the label was in Japanese and a gift from a friend who went to Japan, so who the heck knows what was in it!

Hope you get some relief! I remember those days!

wish there was some pixie dust i could send your way to stop the itching. i went through the same thing with both my girls and have horrible stretch marks as a reminder. my doctor was able to give Rx cream to help some. good luck! my family and i will be at pop century in 6 more days, for your sake i hope i won't be able to immediately find you because your the pregnant lady scratching uncontollably at the gift shop. good luck.

Emmalinelola & Cravinthecastle: Thanks so much for all the info! i am off to work with more concoctions! i have baby oil on right now and that seems to work for about 5 minutes! woohoo! soo longer than the lotion but still nto as good as the ice!!!
