Stressing over name announcement

:confused3 Ok., so now my curiosity has gotten to me! When do they do this?

When you first board the ship! They announce something like "the Disney magic welcomes the x family from (enter city here!!!). Then they clap as you enter the ship!

Have fun with it! My daughter's godfather was an Adventurer's Club regular, and on our last cruise (after the closing of it) he gave them Hathaway Brown as our "family" name :rotfl2: ;)

I was planning on having them announce:

"(my son's full name) and his parents too"

P.S. I didn't change my last name when I married. Obviously my son and husband have the same last name. I think my son would get a kick out of having his full name announced and my husband and I don't really care ab out having our name formally announced (really who cares?) so thought we'd let our child be the star of the moment on our first cruise!

They will announce any name you give them. I had them announce me as Anita Martini. My friend was announced as Annie Manildou.

LMBO!! Disney just makes you so happy, you get silly! :rotfl: Maybe we could be the Seymore Butts Family! :lmao: I love fun, silly stuff! We will probably choose to be announced by our last name "The Wig Family" but wouldn't it be funny if we all wore silly wigs? :banana:

My kids work for weeks to come up with a tongue twister good enough for our announcement. it has become a family tradition to have them announce something totally rediculous.

Last cruise- "The Energetic, Super Silly Egan's from San Dimas". I think she actually called us something totally different but the kids had a great time watching her try!

It really is only your family paying attention so go with whatever the kids want to be called.

My husband keeps threating to have us announced as "The Clark W. Griswold Family" or "Mr. Art Vandelay and Family.":rotfl:

It does not sound silly at all. To ease your mind though; as many here have said, they will say whatever you want. No one really even will notice what they say besides you. You are walking on the ship so fast and moving about; no one knows what they say besides you! The people ahead of you are trying to just get to their destination or looking at amazement of the Atrium. The people behind you are just being shuffled through and are trying to respond to the CM behind you. If you blink; you will miss that they even announced you. It is just a few cast memebers there clapping; I bet they do not even know what was said. Last cruised we were announced as Princess K and her family!.:lmao: The CM asked "what is your name?"; I was telling my DS to tie his shoe and missd being asked. So DD replied "Princess K" when asked her name.... As we shuffled through the door they announced "Welcome Abooard Princess K and family". It took me a minute to register what they said and even longer to realize DD had replied.;)

They can announce you as "The need a vacation Family..." "How about "The Mixin' It Up Family".... No on hears it truly, but you. :thumbsup2

I know this may sound silly, but...

I'm recently re-married. I kept my maiden name, my two tween boys have their father's name. So, we have 3 last names going onboard. I don't want to use my ex's name for the X family announcement. My name maybe? My husband doesn't care. I was thinking of just using my two boys first names. Would the Matt & Mikey family sound silly?? :confused3

How about "Matt and Mikey's Family" instead of "The Matt and Mikey Family"? :)

I with a lot of you who really don't care about the announcement but, since it will be my son's 4th birthday, I'm thinking we'll chose something he'll be amused by like "<DS's name> and his minions"

:)

Here's our funny/embarrassing story: Last week when we boarded, I was so eager to get in there that I felt all flustered as we entered the atrium and gave them our name. I strode in hand in hand with my DS8 and DD3 to the sound of "Welcome, Meyer Family!" and had just barely heard the next family's name when I again hear "Welcome, Meyer Family!" What? I turned around and realized my DH and other son were not even with us and there had been a family in between us and I hadn't even noticed. oh well - it kind of ruined the "moment" because I was so red-faced, but I'm sure I was the only one who noticed! :-)

Hi All,

I made the mistake of telling my DH that they will announce whatever name you give them upon boarding and he has picked out a lulu for our upcoming Alaska cruise in July. "Dr. And Mrs. viscount V Goatlips the third". Why this man who can't remember how to recap toothpaste or put down a toilet seat won't forget this is beyond me. I am planning to don a fake nose and glasses when we arrive in hopes that no one recognizes me after the announcement...

:rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl:

OMG that one had me laughing for like 5 minutes :thumbsup2

I think i may tell them my last name is Fafafa....that way it will sound like a stutter when they announce the Fa-Fa-Fa Family

pirate:

Oh the possiblitlies..........................................:rotfl::rotfl:

Of course I may have them announce up as my cast member friend that had to leave due to personal reasons. That way at least she will be crusing with us in name.

I agree with other posters. Pick something fun and enjoy! This is not something to stress over :-) My husband and I asked to be announced as "Carl & Ellie on their next great adventure!"

Have a great cruise!

My husband thinks we should have them announce us as:
"Thank-GOD-we-are-finally-getting-on-this-ship-so-my-wife/the mommy-will-stop-counting-down Family"

I just told him that when one countdown ends, another begins...:cool1::banana::rotfl2:

These are all so funny! I'm glad I started it!

I quizzed the boys- it looks like we are the "We Pee Freely" family :rotfl2:

Not sure if I should say thansk to y'all or not!! ;)

We are in the same boat!!! I kept my maiden name, new marriage and kids from last marriage. So three different last names.

We will be introduced as the "Ohana Family"!! Because that is what it means!! "This is my family. I found it, all on my own. Is little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good."

Now if it was just the DH and I then I would use DH's last name for our introduction!!
