I know this may sound silly, but...

I'm recently re-married. I kept my maiden name, my two tween boys have their father's name. So, we have 3 last names going onboard. I don't want to use my ex's name for the X family announcement. My name maybe? My husband doesn't care. I was thinking of just using my two boys first names. Would the Matt & Mikey family sound silly?? :confused3

They will announce any name you give them. I had them announce me as Anita Martini. My friend was announced as Annie Manildou.

They will say whatever you want and no one pays attention except the clapping cast members. Don't worry about it!

I love the Matt and Mikey family! I might have even done that if you all had the same last name---so fun! Go with it! have a fun cruise. Elaine

Agreed!! Don't fret about your first steps on a fab ship!! Make up a good moniker for fun!! :)

We are traveling with 6 teenagers!! Three are not our own and with all the many last names, we'd sound like a disease entering the ship...so I think we're going with the....

"Tumani Teenz" family

Enjoy and have fun with it!! :)

Yea, everyone says they will announce whatever they give you..... My dad is going along w/us; all the rest of us have the same last name; but I don't want to leave him out.... (I would really like to have them announce my kids names individually- but I have 5 kids and I'm afraid that is asking too much;)) so I think I've decided just to give them our last name and my dad's last name- "the xy and the z family":confused3

You can eve do something like "Captain Hook's friends." Let the boys be creative.

It doesn't have to be in the form "_____ family" either. So if you want them to announce you by first names (ie "Matt, Mikey and Amanda") you can. If you would rather they announce the two last names (as in "the X and Y family") you can.

If you would rather not be announced, that is Ok too. Many people don't for a verity of reasons. Or, if you wan't to us an alias (perhaps a funny, non-rude, family in-joke) you can.

I had a couple once want announced as their dogs name and then "mommy and daddy".

Don't stress about it. You are not the first in this situation by a long way and you won't be the last. Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks everyone! Those are all good ideas!

I may do the Matt & Mikey family- although it seems everytime we are at the World they call my youngest Mickey instead! It's gotten to the point where my nickname for him is Mikey Mouse :rotfl:

Hi All,

I made the mistake of telling my DH that they will announce whatever name you give them upon boarding and he has picked out a lulu for our upcoming Alaska cruise in July. "Dr. And Mrs. viscount V Goatlips the third". Why this man who can't remember how to recap toothpaste or put down a toilet seat won't forget this is beyond me. I am planning to don a fake nose and glasses when we arrive in hopes that no one recognizes me after the announcement...

On a more serious note, I understand your concern and your desire to make everyone happy, comfortable and not hurt feelings. Especially in what I am assuming is a newer family dynamic. I think what I would do is put it to your boys. Ask them how they want to be addressed and then as long as it is not inappropriate for a family ship or off color go with it. Heck, I would even encourage them to be silly or to come up with a new family motto for your blended family. For example, had my DH not married himself to the Viscount thing I might have tried for "The California Klondike Contingent" or something like that.

Bottom line, don't stress about the piping aboard you will be so excited to finally have stepped onto the ship that you will barely hear what they call you and if your kids are like most of the ones I saw on our first Disney Cruise, they will already be halfway to the pool before the crew has even finished saying anything!

Have a wonderful trip!

These names are cute! I think the Matt and Mikey family sounds great!

:rotfl2: that's too funny! My brother in law Mike got married this past summer to Nikki :bride: and we took them to WDW as their wedding gift. :cheer2: It was his first time there and he didn't really know what to expect. He's a very straight laced workaholic kinda guy. :surfweb: At our first day lunch at Crystal Palace at MK, he totally got into it and now he's hooked. So much so, that we've talked the two of them into coming on our first ever DCL cruise next year on the Dream (and when I say convince, I really mean that we mentioned we'd booked our room and they asked which one so they could book the one next door!). :cheer2: Anyway, long story not so short, their new nicknames are Mikey Mouse and Nikki Mouse!! :rotfl2:

Love this! It makes me want to make up a silly name for our family too.

Don't be fretting! This happened to me also, it was my maiden name, my fiance's name ( we were married on that cruise also, so I was one name getting on, and a different name getting off LOL) and
my DD's last name (her dad's last name). Plus we had another family traveling with us, family, but with a different surname as well! It was comical when they asked for our named "introducing the A B C and D families! :0)

I stressed about this BIG time until I went through it the first time...it really isn't a big deal. We've been with different combos of surnames. You've gotten a lot of good advice here...the best advice is to have fun with it. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

We once went on a cruise with a person named David Jones. We had them announce us as "Davey Jones and crew."

:confused3 Ok., so now my curiosity has gotten to me! When do they do this?
