The room size at OKW is unparalleled, we’ve been spoiled.

Just to let you know: Poly Studios (465sf) are notably larger than OKW studios (390sf), with more floor area during the day as there is a sofabed rather than a second regular Queen bed. Bonus is that you also have a couch during the day at the Poly.
While much of the additional square footage is in the bathroom, we found the Poly studios to still feel much more spacious than OKW Studios.

The Murphy bed is bigger than most people think. It’s narrow (30” as opposed to a single bed being 33”) but has the standard 72” length. My teen son slept on it last trip no problem and much more convenient than pulling sofa out.
The smaller bathroom with big walk-in shower definitely has enough floor space to fit the pack n play.

I have not rented privately, but there are many posts here asking for recommendations for contracts, so my answer is yes, I think so.

Since you are familiar with how DVC works, you might check the Rent/Trade board here on the DIS for a Poly owner. You can click their screen name to find their other posts and get a sense of “who they are” before you contact them. Be sure to read the Required Reading post at the top of the board first, and do NOT respond to anyone who contacts you offering to rent to you - scammers work that way (report them!).

I recommend using the sponsor (DVCRentalStore) because they have a lot more surety/secure booking practices. You have to pay a little bit more, but it's a lot more peace of mind. This is coming from someone who has rented out and rented points of DisBoards lol.

Because that turned out so well for everyone last year? I cannot give a carte blanche recommendation to any broker. Renting directly from the owner may or may not give any more leeway but it at least has a chance. Even when there have been issues on reservations booked thru brokers all they guarantee is a refund and not an accommodation. And there's zero changes unless you pay them even more for insurances.

Very true there are always risks and everyone can palate their own level! Just my opinion but I completely get others disagree which is totally cool. As I said, I am being a tad hypocritical given I have used Disboards to rent many times.
