How do you deal with a lot of stress? Do you have a healthy outlet for it? Do you scream in your pillow? Do you take it out on others?

I really need to find a better way to deal with stress, and Im wondering how everyone else does it.

When Im stressed out I have a hard time concentrating on what needs to be done and nothing makes sense to me. Then I get more stressed out.

Help? Ideas? please.

workout, read, walk what ever works, I think the key is how you handle problems, I bet you worry to much. Good luck

thank you, and youre right. I *do* worry too much even though I know better.

I found a note in my daddys Bible when he died, it said " Worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere"

Thanks Jason :)

I've learned that Tai Chi is an excellent destressor for me. Sometimes the only thing that works is screaming and punching pillows, but I've started doing my Tai Chi recently and it's been a big help.

I find that solitude works best for me. I just take a day to do stuff by myself. Whether it's watching a movie, walking around the city, or going (window) shopping, having some quiet "ME" time is a great stress-reliever. (You'll be surprised how long you can go without saying a single word to another person!)

Taking time for yourself is most important.

And when you feel yourself getting stressed ask yourself "is this something I can change" if so, change it right then. If it isn't try to move on. It's not healthy to waste energy on things you can't change.

...this being said by someone who doesn't stress out much:cool:

Take care of yourself!!

I have been known to scream into my pillow. I call friends who are kind enough to let me vent and go on and on about whatever the stressful situation may be.

Sorry you are feeling stressed. {{{HUGS}}}

i take some time BY MYSELF (this is key :) ) to just relax and do something i enjoy for about an hour.

right now i'm in grad school and als working full-time. i've found that i have to be really good with time management, otherwise the stress gets really bad and i get into trouble. i try to be preemptive about stress by staying on top of everything that needs to get done. :)

Good for you, caity caity! I go in and out of being good at time management.......and needless to say, when I am not managing my time, my stress level increases. I don't know if I don't manage my time because I am stressed......or if I am stressed because I am not managing my time! It is a real Catch-22.

binny......be good to yourself.........do something special for you, even if it is just a nice bath with candles, or reading a good book or taking a nice walk. Take care of yourself.

I try to find time to read....get lost in the story. I also work out 5 days a week, 2 hours each day. I try to squeeze in 2 Yoga classes a week, it really helps unwind and get the stress and tension out. I tend to push my cardio workouts also, somedays I will do the treadmill for 60-70 minutes at an incline of 15.....the trainers at the Y think i'm nuts....but it works for me.
