Stress and Eating

So how many of you out there do the stress eating? I so want to rip open my cupboard that has all the fattening snacks in it and eat everything in site! But I figured if I get on line and start to type away and sip my tea maybe some of the stressful feelings will pass. My poor daughter just called and found out that they are not expecting a girl in May but a baby boy, well I couldn't be happier but she was really hoping it was a girl since we have a two year old granson. Normally my daughter would just laugh this off but since her husband has now been placed somewhere inside Iraq and she will not be able to have any contact with him for at least a month she is very stressed out and when she is stressed out so am I. So send me some good "vibes" so I don't cave in, I am only 3 pounds from my goal and I don't want to blow it now..thanks for letting me rant on..

You can do it! Think about it like this. If you eat the foods you are not supposed to, they will taste good - really good - for about two minutes. Then you'll have to face the consequences including a guilty conscience which could lead to a big binge and then you could find yourself several more pounds from your goal than you are right now.

I like that expression - "nothing right now could possibly taste as good as being thin will feel".

Keep site of your goal, keep posting to this site, get up and take a walk or do some exercise or my personal favorite, take a hot bubble bath. If you just need something sweet, could you go buy a diet root beer? Oh my, those are so good and sweet and you feel like you are being naughty but you are not.

First off you did the right thing by posting here and sipping your tea instead of heading off to fill up on junk that will make you feel awful when you realize what you've done! I'm a definitely an emotional eater and have to fight those feelings when things aren't going well and it's hard but SO worth it!! Think about how close you are to goal and you don't want ANYTHING to stand between you and that right?? I know you can get through this without eating off plan!! :goodvibes:

Yes, stress does send me into eating and I'm glad that you came here and have your tea instead of munching down. I'm sending hugs your way that you make it through. You can make that goal, you are so close and just remember that you have worked so hard to get to this point it isn't worth messing up your progress. You can do this!
 
Hang in there, only 3 pounds is SO close. Plus, your daughter needs you to be strong. Tell yourself that you'll have a big celebration snack with son-in-law returns home or when grandson is born.
Just make it thru TODAY. (sometimes I try to make thru an hour at a time)

All you have to do is MAKE IT THRU TODAY! :sunny:
 
Thanks to all the encouragement! I did make it through the day with out any major pig out! My daughter is okay now, it wasn't she was sad about having a baby boy it was more that she will not get to talk to her husband to tell him that he is expecting a sone instead of a daughter and my daughter did not want to just e-mail him. So today we are making a trip to the mall to exchange all the "pink" stuff we bought and buy that pretty blue!
 
You are going to have a new grandbaby? What wonderful news. I am so envious. I have to borrow grandchildren, myself.

Sorry you are feeling stressed. I eat when I get stressed but there is nothing off plan in my house, so I'm quasi safe. I can still eat too much of the legal foods.
