Streaming Disney+ in Your Cabin

I just use my Firestick. If you can connect to WiFi, you can stream whatever you want, assuming the signal strength will support it. I always bring it with me to WDW, but have not been on a cruise to confirm it will work there.

If you are a Disney+ subscriber, is there anyway to stream Disney+ in your stateroom on Disney cruises especially after turning in for the night?

I usually just download what I know the kids want to the tablets before we board, but I seem to remember there was a decent on demand collection? I remember coming back to my husband watching Marvel movies.

Decent is relative, decent for a short cruise but if you like longer cruises it feels very limited. I think my recent HAL cruise had more Disney on demand in their kids section than dcl overall…

This is what our family does as well before we travel. We make sure to download any tv shows or movies we want from whatever streaming services we have to our devices and that way we have something for those down times :)

Meanwhile, on the 10 night NCL cruise I just took, the only free options were one tv channel for movies and one tv channel for shows. They only started on the hour/half hour regardless of when the show/movie ended, and they looped every 3ish days.

We don't really have down times (on purpose) but on vacation I throw out the no tablets in bed rule and usually one or both of them conks out watching something.

Short answer is the cabin tv doesn’t support it, and the WiFi doesn’t always have the bandwidth to stream it on your personal devices. They do have a limited number of movies to choose from.

You'd have to pay for the Wi-Fi, and it's an extortionate amount of money, IMO. I download a lot of content to my iPad —Disney+ content included. I hardly ever end up watching much on the ship, but it's there if I want it. It might be nice to be able to log into your Disney+ account onboard ship, but we don't usually stay up for too long after we're in bed. The rocking of the ship and the comfortable bed aren't conducive for focus for us. DH tries to read or watch something on his iPad when in bed but has hit himself in the face too many times with it for me to be convinced that we need to spend much time watching TV on ship.

To be honest, Disney cruises are the most expensive cruises I have seen (that are not luxury cruises). To my knowledge, Royal Caribbean is far cheaper and I did not see streaming devices (such as Amazon Firesticks) on their list of prohibited items. However, it would count as one of your devices on your internet package. One of the major disadvantages of cruises is having to pay a lot extra for internet.

My son's ipad got damaged right before our recent 7-night cruise and he could not access any of his downloaded content.

Thankfully he found plenty to watch in the on demand selections - they had all the Marvel and Star Wars movies. We ended up watching all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. But they do not have all the Disney+ original series/content.

It depends on what you want to watch. If you are looking for something specific, they may or may not have it on demand. If you are looking for something fun to watch in the room during an afternoon break or want to watch something before you go to sleep you will probably be fine. My friend liked to watch movies as she feel asleep. She had no problem finding something to watch every night. If you want Disney movies, they will have a wide selection of Disney movies (including acquisitions like Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel) on demand onboard.
