This is going to sound like a strange question, but here goes... :rotfl:

For those of you who have eaten at HDDR, what exactly is the strawberry short "cake" like??? DH and I grew up eating very different versions. His mom made it with literal cake.
I grew up eating a version where the shortcake had more of a biscuit-type consistency. DH is NOT a fan of 'my' type of strawberry shortcake, so I'm just wondering what is it like???
He'll be bummed if he gets his hopes up for cake and gets "biscuits with strawberries on it." :lmao:

Thanks!!

I know what you mean. It's not the biscuit kind...more like actual spongy cake.

It is a dense yellow cake that absords the strawberry juice. It is not a light cake like you would get for a birthday, more of a pound cake. But it definetely is not a biscuit. Sorry to you, but hey at least your hubby will be glad and if you like it, you can substitute the Sangria for your dessert.;)

This is actually what I was hoping for. It doesn't really matter to me which type it is, anything with strawberries and whip cream is good in my book! I'm glad hubby will get to enjoy it though. I rarely make it (either way) and it's one of his faves, so he'll be thrilled.

I love when it is made with the biscuit... but its pretty much just cake.

Oh wait till he sees the portion he will get of this dessert, wow! He will LOVE it. Its my favorite part of the whole meal. Oh wait, the fried chicken is really good, my kids love the ribs...ah, I love the Hoop, SO fun!!!

I'm not even a big strawberry shortcake fan and I love it at HDDR. :thumbsup2 The whole meal is pretty good - simple, but good both times we were there. (The cornbread is sweet enough to be dessert on its own, but I can overlook that. ;))

Thanks alot. Please keep in mind it's not even 6 a.m. yet. I see a day of overeating coming up and I'm blaming all of you... :rotfl:

I just have to say that I love the hoop dee doo!!!!The food is so yummy!!!
