We'll be heading to DL next weekend and wanted to find somewhere to pick strawberries. We'd like to do it on Saturday, May 31, the day we drive home. We plan on come home down the coastal highway/I-5 to San Diego and then east on I-8 to AZ. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I know there used to be a place near Legoland where you could pick, but other than that, the only place I know of is in Ventura County, and that's out of your way.

Yep! Ventura County! That's where I live, in Oxnard, the strawberry capital of the world. :yay:

But, unless you want to drive about 80 miles north of Disneyland, it's out of your way... :guilty:

The strawberry field the previous poster mentioned near Legoland would be your best bet - take the Cannon Road exit once you get to Carlsbad and go east - the strawberry field will be on your left (you can see it from the freeway when you're going north...going south I think you can, but the view might be blocked by the center divider). I think they are doing "pick-your-own" now - they don't do it early in the season, but it's getting late now.

Just off the 405 in Irvine is Tanaka Farms (tanakafarms.com). It's a great place for strawberry picking. They have hay rides also...

My parents went there last saturday and they were doing "pick your own". She told me the price but I forgot. I think an entire flat that is prepicked runs about $30.

Anyone know the name of this place? Are there any other places to "pick" fruit in this area?
