While shopping with my (surrogate) granddaughter at the straw market, I had told the vendor I was willing to pay $25.00 for three beach blankets. After much haggling, the vendor came down to 3 for $27.00

I told her that this pretty little girl only had $25.00 and she needed three blankets. When Devina heard this, she proudly proclaimed, “No, Mr. Bill. My mommy gave me $200.00 to spend!.”

I paid $27.00 for three blankets!!

They always have a way of keeping us honest! You just never know what will come out of the mouths of babes! Mine is now 15 and I still am not sure what she will say....just hold my breath and hope for the best!

Ain't it the truth? Ya never know what those wee laddies will say...same holds with the big boys, too. :earseek:

My DH is not a good haggler when it comes to shopping and was surprised when I bought my last car and what a decent price I had gotten it for - by haggling.

I have instructed both, DH and DS, to just keep quiet and let momma do the bartering when we go on the cruise. I will probably let DS give it a go with some guidance on how to barter...he has some potential when he's spending his own money. :scratchin

I am looking forward to the market and the vendors for the challenge of getting a good deal...it's been too long. Around here you don't get the chance too often...yardsales and auctions which neither really appeal to me.
