I am staying on board the ship when it goes into Nassau, my daughter would like to take the 3 kids to the Straw Market. We don't have money to do any tours or excursions. Spent it on more important stuff...cruise.

Any way my question is does the ship pull in to dock---can you walk to the straw market or do you need to take some form of transportation, that you need to pay for.

Thanks

The Straw Market is indeed within walking distance from the ship. At the end of the dock area you'll walk through Festival Place and come out into a courtyard area. Turn right and walk down along the water. The Market will be on the left hand side of the street at the end. It's just a ghost of its former self today. The original one burned to the ground a few years ago and was very much larger.

I understand your not doing excursions. They can be expensive. Perhaps you will consider taking a taxi over to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island and tour on your own. Costs nothing to walk through the Resort and Casino. It's a beautiful place and well worth the visit. Will just cost you $4.00pp each way ($1.00 toll going over which you can share with other riders). You'll find the taxi drivers at the end of the dock. We found them to be very pleasant and accommodating.

Have a wonderful time.

How old are the 3 kids? The straw Market can be crowded and overwhelming and some of the ailes are so packed you can barely get through. If the kids are young I wouldn't reccommend trying to take three of them alone.
