Strategy For Switching AAA Rate For AP DIscount - Advice?

I've got POR for $148 Plus for March 2 - 11 on the AAA rate, two rooms. If I can save more than a few $$ by buying an AP and getting that rate I'd do it. How? Don't I have to have an AP in hand first? If I buy an AP, I'll need to save $200 or so to break even, the difference between an AP and the 10 Day MYW Hopper with no plusses, that expires. If I get the AP, will there actually be 2 rooms available for my week, or could I get shut out and be stuck with the AP and no room discount? Can I buy my AP at the same time I reserve the room with CRO? HELP!!

I spoke with CRO two days ago , and I was quoted a rate for POFQ 2/27-3/4 that was much lower than the AAA rate I currently have. When I said that I would like to book the AP rate, I was told I need to pay for an AP while on the phone so that they can put the AP # on my ressie. Well, I'm not able to shell out $400+ just like that, so I stuck with the AAA rate, but she would have booked everything on the phone with me right then (AP and room). Of course, this has to be done between 2p and 5p EST .

amc, thanks for checking, and Dode, thanks for the news that I can get the AP and book at the same time. We'll save several hundred dollars, enough for a few rounds of Tennants at the R&C! CRO will be hearing from me tomorrow.
