I need HELP! We are going to the MK on Friday, Dec. 2. Assuming the EMH is still on I need a strategy. We plan to be there about 15 minutes before rope drop. We usually make a b-line down Main Street straight to Dumbo! Well… I’m afraid the parade is going to put a damper on this plan. It has been suggested that we try to go through the shops – do we go to the left or the right? Any other suggestions on how to get to the elephant in a timely fashion?

We have the Family Magic Tour scheduled for that morning at 10. Does anybody know where that starts? How is the parade going to effect our tour?

I’m getting SO stressed out about this day! I was foolish to overlook the Parade Taping for our big day at the MK – we also have CRT reservations that day – so there is no going back! :earseek:

We go through the shops to avoid parades and it would be left, the side with the empourium, you can go all the way through, might be more of a crowd on that side, but it works ok.

If you want to go through the stores, go to the left - those stores connect most of the way down Main St. We just did the Family Magic tour in october and really enjoyed it - we started from the garden area right next to City Hall (just inside MK entrance on the left) about 9:45. I wouldn't worry about doing the tour while they are filming - you will be escorted through the park by a guide and I'm sure they know how to maneuver any crowds or 'obstacles'! PS: Tell your kids that if the characters they meet at the end of the tour (we met Peter and Wendy) ask them which ride they want to ride (ours were given a choice of IASW, PhilharMagic or PP's flight) - pick IASW - our whole tour fit into one boat with Peter sitting with kids in the front and Wendy sitting with kids a few rows behind. The ride was long and all of the children got to talk with/interact with P & W throughout the whole thing (something they couldn't do in PPflight or PhilharMagic) - Peter kept pointing out hidden Mickeys and giving the kids inside secrets to the ride - he talked the whole time! - what fun !! and great pics!! I wouldn't worry about your CRT reservation either - you will have a nice break inside the castle and every table there is usually full anyway. We just booked a last minute weekend trip and plan to check out the parade taping on Sat AM - if it's crowded we'll just go to the back of the park and do some rides - if it's really a zoo, we plan on hopping over to MGM after lunch - Enjoy !! :smooth:

The family magic tour starts in the garden immediately on your left when you first enter the park. The first stop or two may be along the crowded areas, but after that you are in different lands and hopefully away from the action. Good luck!!!

Tell me more about this tour! Getting to ride a ride with a character sounds TOTALLY worth it!

Hi! :wave2: We are also doing the Family Magic Tour that day and time! It will be so cool to be on the tour with other DISers! :cool1: We had a few of the same worries about the crowds affecting the tour, but figure the CMs will know how to avoid that, or they wouldn't have allowed any of those tours during the parade taping. See you on the tour! We will be wearing a Lime Green Mickey Head on our backpack!! :bounce:

My sis and I did the tour with my DNeph (for his 8th b'day) and DGrD (just 2 - we took her in the stroller with no problem). You start out at the garden area right next to City Hall and (I won't go into too much detail and spoil it for you, but you can find other posts if you search that will do that if you want to know) follow the clues on the treasure map to find Captain Hook's hook before he takes over WDW. You go to all of the lands through MK looking for the spots indicated on the map, singing songs and acting out silly, funny instructions along the way (the kids all loved it - and most of the grown-ups got in on the fun, too!). Half way through you get a 10 minute 'potty break'. You end up in the park area behind the Xmas store in Liberty Square where you will come across the characters. We had Peter and Wendy, but they are not 'guaranteed' - Peter and Wendy acted out a little play about the tour story line with all the kids - then took them aside and voted on which ride they wanted to ride with them. The kids voted on IASW (see my above post about why I thought that was the best choice) and we all walked, with Peter and Wendy, doing silly steps and getting lots of attention from everyone in the park (they were great at getting all of the kids involved and having them take turns picking step 'styles'). Before we left the park area they posed with each family separately for a wonderful picture! After the ride they walked outside with us and said goodbye to everyone - you are going to love it - I know my DNeph (who was Peter for MNSSHP - Peter even saw him the next night at the side of the parade and came over with Wendy and the lost boys and high-fived him as they walked by! :wizard: ) was over the moon !!! :smooth:

We are also scheduled for the Family Magic Tour on 12/2 at 10! It will be dh, ds7, dd5, and myself. We are looking forward to it!

This is SO COOL! :cool1: This will be quite a DIS tour! I was so hoping to meet other DISers on the trip. I was totally convinced I wouldn't see any other lime green Mickey Heads and no one would even say "Hi!" Now a bunch of us will be together. Our little gang is me, DH and my two DDs(5). Can't wait to meet you guys on the tour! By the way, where are you from? We're in Northern New Jersey. See you on the 2nd! :earsboy:

I took the family magic tour in October...it was great....called a scavenger hunt.....kids have to read the map, then adults and children do all kinds of stunts throughout the kingdom, and finally someone finds the treasure at the end of the map.....magical...you also get sprinkled with pixie dust to make the magic happen!!!!! ENJOY...I certainly did!

:jumping1: This is going to be the best!!! A DIS tour!!! :jumping1:

I called today & was told the tour is full. I think they take about 15 people - 11 of us are Disers! :cool1:
