Strategy for booking ADRs and FPs with convention

My DH has a convention to attend in Orlando in November 2016. He has booked his reservation through the host of the convention but we have yet to find out where we will definitely be located (looks like the Contemporary currently). We don't have a WDW confirmation number or our park tickets yet. Does anyone have experience with this? Supposedly we will start getting room notifications some point in August and the reservations are transferred to Disney in October.

I would like to make ADRs and FPs but have no idea how to approach this one! Any insight or tips appreciated! TIA!

You don't need to have a reservation to make ADRs. You can make those now, although you may have difficulty getting into a few of the more popular places, since ADRs have already been open for Nov for quite some time.

You can't make FP bookings until you have tickets attached to your MDE account. If you have a Disney resort confirmation number, you can book them 60 days in advance. Without the resort, 30 days in advance. Getting those will be dependant on the conference organizers.

I am attending a conference the first week of October at the Contemporary. The conference had a special weblink set up for us to book our rooms at the conference rate and another link to buy conference priced tickets including the After 3pm entry ticket.

Our email says our reservations will be transferred to the hotel 3 weeks before the convention. There doesn't seem to be any way around that. I do have a link to purchase conference priced tickets; just not sure how we receive them.

My tickets came in the mail and they are the typical hard-plastic style tickets. However, my ticker says I am at my 60-day mark and I don't seem to be able to make FP+. Can you not make FP+ with the after 3pm tickets?

An Event Apart? If so I will see you there. I've only been able to make FP+ for the night I am doing MNSSHP. I didn't buy any tickets as I will be upgrading my 6day PH to an AP when we go later this month.

Yes, that is the conference!! I bought two after 3 pm tickets and 1 MNSSHP ticket. Apparently they changed when the FP+ window opens. My last trip it was at midnight Florida time, which was only 11 pm central. Easy to stay up. Now it is 7am Florida time and I missed it while getting up and ready for work. I will be chasing a Frozen FP for one of my Epcot nights.
