Stranger says I am texting them

So weird. Some guy just emailed me and told me to stop texting him. Called me an inconsiderate fool. I emailed him back to say I don't even have texting on my phone(well it is pay per text, I don't think you can totally disable it). He says it comes from my email address. Can you even send a text through an email account? Either way, I know I haven't done that. Anyone know?

A while back, I had some kid keep texting me, and when I called the number to tell him to stop, he said I had texted him. I hadn't done that either....

Yes, you can send a text from your e-mail. Each phone service provide has an "address" that you can use from your e-mail. You cannot receive a text back in that manner but you can certainly send them. I wonder if someone has hijacked your e-mail address.

How would I stop that? And wouldn't anything sent show up in the sent folder?

No one needs to have hi-jacked her e-mail address. The person who is e-mailing her is a fool. Both phone and e-mail have mechanisms to fake the return source. Heck some of my spam e-mail comes from myself according to the headers

Are you able to block his e-mails?

I don't know how to block emails. He has only emailed me twice--once was the inconsiderate fool email and the other was a semi-apology when I replied to tell him I didn't text.

Should I change my email password?

Try changing your email password to see if that fixes the problem.

Do a virus scan and see if you've been infected with anything. Some viruses (or is it malware?) can send stuff that looks like it comes from you, but it really doesn't. I don't know if it shows up in your sent folder, but I think it doesn't.
