:rotfl: I am sooo used to the DIS DVC community that I think I freaked a DVC'er out this morning!:rotfl2: My DS has a swim meet this weekend and I had dropped him off at the door, parked & was walking in to the pool when I saw an SUV parking with a DVC Member sticker thing on the back window. So as I passed by the driver's side I stopped to wave hi & motioned for him to put his window down. Now, it was only 6:30 am so it was still dark out but it was like it never occured to me that there could be another DVC member out there who might think I was ODD. :lmao: He was obviously NOT a DISboarder! I was all prepared to strike up a conversation about DVC and he didn't even want to put his window down 1/2 way. I was like "I saw your DVC sticker and we own too!!" (and I was carrying my DVC tote bag). He was just like "SOOO? YES?" as he looked at me like I was growing legs out of the top of my head. I could tell right then that this conversation was awkward from the get-go and wasn't going to go anywhere in a hurry so I just said "Nevermind" and walked off. Silly me. I was surprised he wasn't receptive to a conversation.

I guess I was "Stranger Danger"?!:confused3 So I was just wondering how many of you out there would approach someone like that if you saw they owned DVC?! Or if someone approached you about DVC would you look at them like they had 6 legs? Or am I really just one of those strange kooky ladies who talks to strangers in elevators & parking lots?! :rolleyes1

If someone approached me I would be more that willing to discuss all the ins and outs and good and bad and eveything in between. Don't know how far I would go in approaching someone else however. Maybe if they had a DVC tote I might say something if we were in an elevator, ride line etc. but don't think I would approach someone just because they had a sticker on their car. With my luck it would be a second hand car and the previous owner was the DVC member.

I'm probably more like castleri. I doubt I'd directly approach someone, but may strike up a conversation with someone in line or elevator.

There is a white Suburban I see often in my town with a DVC sticker and Disney word specialty plate. One of these days I'm going to see her coming to or from her car and say hi. If someone approached me, I'd probably talk their ear off!! LOL Luckily I do have a DVC friend that lives in town, so I get my DVC-talking fix often!!

:lmao:

Yes...I would be as thrilled as you were to meet another DVC member! And yes, I would strike up a conversation. Too bad "Mr. Stranger Danger" hadn't had his morning coffee yet! :surfweb:

:rotfl2: OR maybe since I'd been up since 5:00 I'd had TOOO MUCH coffee by then?!:rotfl:

I guess it could've been a previously owned vehicle that came with the sticker but in my mind I was thinking that I wouldn't advertise something with a sticker on my car if it wasn't something I would be willing to talk about. And if I bought a re-sale car I'd for sure be out there scraping the darned thing off with a razor blade!!

Maybe the problem was 6:30 a.m. and still dark? Not the most socially-interactive time of day and lack of sunlight can "spook" even the calmest of us...

I use my DVC tote quite a lot (it's a great travel bag when you're trying to avoid checking bags)...I've said "hi" and talked Disney to others carrying DVC (or Disney) luggage, and have also had them say hi to me...

I actually get a LOT more comment/conversation about my Disney Visa...but of course that's not going to spark a conversation in a parking lot at 6:30 a.m. before sunrise...usually it's store clerks or people w/me when I'm buying something (e.g., paying a restaurant bill)...

Anyway, I think Disney does "inspire" its afficionados to chat...and DISers are that times 10...but there's just something about a parking lot, pre-dawn...

I bet he would have been more receptive to you if you told him your name was Anal Annie.

I'd probably end up talking their ear off if they approached me! I don't generally go up and talk to people so I wouldn't do that, but I certainly wouldn't have been so cranky!

I'm pretty sure wouldn't approach anyone like that. Got to say though, you have to be a ton of fun to be that outgoing at 6:30 in the morning! :rotfl:

If someone approached me to say "Hi", providing it wasn't that early, I'd be happy to chat. :)

Would not, could be someone that bought a used car and stickers came with it.

We met a DVC member at Mount Rushmore and they are on the DIS, too. I had on my BCV hat and they asked us if we were members. We had a nice visit while we were eating.

Someone from Cincinnati noticed my DVC sticker as we were filling our tanks. We chatted for about 5 minutes, then we had to leave for work.

I was paired up golfing with a guy I didn't know on day. We were both invited by a mutual friend. Eventually, the conversation turned to vacations and we found that we were both DVC members. We had a great conversation about our vacations after that. :dogdance:

:lmao::rotfl2: I'm sure that really would've sealed it that I was a kook!!

Oh I am TONS of fun!! :rotfl: Especially when I pop out of bed at 5:00, get dressed, feed the cats, make some coffee and some scrambled eggs & toast the bagels plus get my DS up & dressed & get out of the house by 5:40 so I can drive 40 miles to I-95 at o'dark-thirty!! :rolleyes1 By 6:30 I was like :hyper: We get to do it all again tomorrow morning so I'll look for him again!! :rotfl:

I was just curious where everyone stood on the approaching or not. I think we've confirmed that I'm a bonafide kook!

A few days after my daughter started Pre-K, I saw an SUVin the parking lot one afternoon with a specialty tag. I was behind the mom walking in, and recognized her as the mom of one of the kids in my daughter's class. As she held the door open for me, I asked her if she went to Disney a lot, as I saw her plate. She replied yes, and I told her that we went to Disney quite often as well. As we walked down the hall and started talking, I found out that they were DVC members. Two weeks later, at open house night, we all stood together and talked about nothing else but Disney.

Today, both girls were at a classmates party and we all sat together and talked about nothing else, but Disney.

If I see a sticker, and the person is nearby, I'm gonna say something.

I had just parked at The Longhorn two weeks ago and as I was walking in I got a big thumbs up. I was like thumbs up ?? he said for DVC. he owned too and had just gotten back from the members cruise.

Maybe his wife put the sticker on and he isn't as "enthusiastic".

Yeah, that would be my husband if he was in my car. ;) He only bought DVC to shut me up, and he is not a WDW fan. He will go with me and has a good time, but if he never went again he would be a happy guy. Good thing my kids like it!

So, if you approached him and said "hey I own DVC too", he probably would have been the same and maybe would have gone into a long sermon on what a waste of money it is. :scared1:
