Yes, it's going to sound strange, but....a couple of us got to talking about the JetBlue Amex rewards card. Most of the use it primarily for their flights and such. Someone asked if there were any specific times you weren't allowed to charge with it. I didn't have an answer. I pulled out my 'contract' with them, and found nothing other than 1 pt for each dollar spent on eligible charges. So, we got to wondering...what is an eligible charge??? Are there any ineligible charges that anyone has run into??

You can always find this information in your cc agreement:

https://www304.americanexpress.com/...-credit-card/36182-4-0/?print=yes&fromTNC=yes

Eligible purchases are goods and services, minus credits, returns, fees, interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, and purchasing or reloading pre-paid cards.
Well, I knew that....but that 'eligible purchases' threw my friend off. I didn't think there were any ineligible purchases...but she just didn't believe me and said it wouldn't be worded that way if you could just go about, charging everything you saw!! I know...silly. That's why I said it would be a 'strange question'.

Well, if you can think of an example and post it, people with that credit card can tell you if they made such a purchase and did or did not get points for it.

She had no idea. For some reason, she thought (not sure where she got the idea) that she could only use the card thru JB. Mine is brand new and I have yet to use it, so she wasn't taking my input!!! So, I imagine that she thought that if she went to Macy's, for instance, and tried to use the card, she would be told that it isn't good there...that she can use it for travel only. I tried to tell her that it would be good but she is hung up on that 'eligible purchases' for some reason. She is positive it means only for JB use...I told her to call and get the scoop from JB or Amex!!!

Make sure you sign up for the Trueblue program to monitor and use your points, it's free to join.

I have had the Jetblue Amex card since it was introduced, all purchases are eligible to receive points that I am aware of, I use it for all types of purchases and stores, from groceries to gas stations and have yet to have a charge that was deemed ineligible.
Up until a year or so ago, there were certain charges such as restaurants and certain recreational charges ( golf and sporting events )that received 2 points per dollar charged. Now only purchases of airfare and vacation packages from Jetblue receive the 2 points per dollar from Amex, plus you get 6 times points directly from Jetblue for airfare purchases booked online. ( If you book by phone you only receive 3 points/dollar) The 6 times points do not get credited to your account until after you take the flight.

Well, that's what I tried to tell her, but since I haven't actually used my card yet, outside of JB stuff, she didn't believe me!!! Thanks...that's exactly what she needs to hear!!!
