Strange Question - Looking for a budget answer!

Has anyone had a scar/spider bite/cyst revised or removed? This may be TMI for some people, but I have a family member who has a 7 year old spider bite scar that has formed a cyst. I'm trying to figure out who else to call other than a Cosmetic Surgeon, who quoted me a price of $650.00. Does anyone know if this can be done by a General Practitioner? Or, does anyone have any idea on who else to call to get this taken care of for a better price? Thanks!

Hm.. I have a ganglion cyst that wil be removed in Aug by an orthopedic surgeon. It is on my ankle. Is your family member's cyst a sebaceous, I guess? Maybe a dermatologist would be a good one to look in to removing it. I had one look at an old surgery scar of mine and a few injections later, the scar looked much, much better.

I had a sebaceous cyst removed by a dermatologist, but my insurance covered it and I only paid the $15 co-pay and about $40 for the numbing injection (my insurance won't pay for medication given in a doctor's office).

Without insurance, I think it would have been around $700.

If it is a cyst, and you have insurance, your insurance should cover the removal. If not, I would say the price you got seems about right.
