Strange Question about Dragon Challenge

We are going to IOA in a couple of weeks and I am wanting to ride on Dragon Challenge. I watched a Youtube video and it seems pretty rough (bumping around, hurting your head) - just wondering if this is so. There is a ride at our local amusement park that does that and it always gives me a headache wondering if this was the same?
Thanks!

Dragon Challenge is actually one of the smoothest coasters. However, like any coasters with twists and turns, you are likely to bump your head on the restraints.

If you are comparing it to Wonderland rides, it has the smoothness of Behemoth even though it is an inverted coaster like Flight Deck.

Damo is correct it is very smooth in terms of coasters. But if you have to choose one over the other ride RED first. I find it less intense than BLUE if there is such a thing with coasters. The other thing about DD is I will ride any row but if the wait is not much go front. This way you can see everything coming.

I never had any issues with banging heads or rough rides on DD.

Dueling Dragons is one of my favorite roller coasters! I don't think you get thrown around at all, the restraints keep you pretty much in place. I have a much harder time doing the Incredible Hulk. I can do DD 5 times in a row no issues, Incredible Hulk once and need to take a break for bit. Front is def the best place to sit!

agree with Bluer.

for me, red is smoother than blue on that ride.

The track is smooth but I got jostled around pretty hard..I got off with a massive headache .This is one I am skipping on my next trip.Hulk did'nt bother me at all

The video you saw on YouTube must have been shot with a handheld camera as the ride is very smooth. Below is a video I shot at the beginning of May using a Chest Mounted GoPro 3. There are lots of twists, turns & loops, but it is a very smooth ride. Bluer101 gave you great advise about the front row great view plus you don't have to worry about the person in front of you Puking. Trust me it happens.

Be sure to have sound on as the girl next to me is screaming like crazy.
Have fun. I am Jealous I don't get to ride it for another year.

Thanks for sharing that video! I miss riding DD but won't ride again since the trains no longer duel.

Yeah Metro- Do you know why they stopped doing that? That was one of the most exciting parts of the ride when both coasters looped at the same time at each other. So dissapointing.

Two injuries within about a month.

Your right, I still ride but its not the same. When IOA opened that coaster along with Hulk were really ground breaking. They are both excellent coasters but DD was better dueling.

Personally, the couple of times I rode DD, I felt like a rag doll being thrown around. Maybe the track is smooth, but it feels like the turns are extreme, and you get thrown (hard) around a lot.

Now Hulk I love. Feels smoother and a lot less like you are being thrown around.

I can ride DD over and over many times in a row. Hulk gives me a headache and has hurt my neck.

Universal and IOA are my favorite parks and I am also a coaster enthusiast, but I do tend to skip these rides. Definitely not the jerkiest coasters ever, but they are a little to jerky for my taste. But I am just not a fan of big twist and turn coasters, I am more of a tall, straight and fast person. However with that all being said I will most likely ride these on the next visit since it has been quite a while since I've ridden them. I definitely don't think they are anything to fear, you should at least try them and judge for yourself.

OMG.... rofl..... great video! I laughed the whole time because that would totally be ME screaming like that! About halfway thru, I thought, did she pass out, cuz it got quiet, but then she starts up again!

I hate that I'm such a chicken. I really want to try some of these rides but I don't know if I'll be able to.
