Planning next years trip and as air fares seem to of shot up thought we would try the euro star ,its a girls trip but i have just found out that my dd friend is a bit claustrophobic so my question is how long are you in the tunnel and what is it like do you really know you are in it or feel any different thought i,d find out to try and reasure her a bit ,my dd and me would swim to dlp so we are not bothered lol

my hubby hates being in the tunnel, he will sit there checking his watch to see how long til we come out. i dont notice it really. i think its about 1/2 hour in the tunnel. (he would know exactly).

i think your in the tunnel for around 20 minutes. from what i can rememeber, one minute your looking out of the window watching the world go by, then it goes pitch black outside, my ears popped, and you just sit there waiting for daylight to return outside. the cabins all stay lit obviously whilst your under the water but its over quite quickly so i dont think there will be any issues for your friend

I'm a bit claustrophobic and don't like being on the tube much, but eurostar is fine, just feels like going through a railway tunnel above ground. And only about half an hour to get through!

We did the eurostar in May & it takes 20 mins. They dont tell you anymore that youre going in it so sometimes you dont even realise that youre in it & not just a small tunnel! I used to clock watch too but it goes so quickly. Best to have something to do to take your friends mind off it! HTH

I often forget we are in a tunnel, it goes fast so maybe tell her to bring her ipod and headphones and a good book and dont think about it and she will be fine. She would be ebtter off on eurostar than a plpane as she can get up and walk etc so she will be fine

Im claustrophobic I wont even go ina lift or public toilet as I panic from the small space and I was terrified of Eurostar before I caught it. Your under the water for half hour but I didnt know I was under there as there are soo many tunnels before you even reach the water.

DW gets claustrophobic too, but we watch a movie on the portable DVD player and apart from the ears poping we don't tend to notice we are in the tunnel untill we come out on the French side.
