Strange MDE resort availability

I've been searching the last 3 days for a quick trip next weekend and have some interesting search results. We can arrive 10/5 or 10/6 and must check out on the 9th.

When I search for regular room rates (not AP) for the 5th -9th, I get 4 or 5 options. When I search for the 6th-9th, all I get is the campground or none. I could understand it if I was seeking a rate that had length of stay requirements but this is a regular room. If the 6th-9th is available with a 5-9 ressie, shouldn't it also be available for a 6-9 ressie?

This pattern has been repeating over and over for 3 days. At first, I thought maybe someone was in the process of booking and the resorts were being held until the transaction was completed. However, it does not seen to be so.

Thoughts?

I was looking for December - I couldn't find anything together for my dates - but if I put in 1 day at a time I got availability at the same resort for all my dates. So now I have a 4 reservations for 4 days at the same resort.

Not sure what is up with the reservations site but I got my Disney stay so I am happy.

I hope you will be able to change this to one reservation because, at the least, you will have to check out and in each day, and at the worst you may have to change rooms.

I had a similar issue. I wanted to add a couple day to our December trip and found PORFQ with single night availability for 2 nights, same room category, but couldn't get it when I put in for 2 nights together. Spent 90 on the phone yesterday and they were able to book it as one reservation for me. Yay!

Thanks for the heads up! We've been looking for few days in early December and have totally bombed out. I found the single days, called the reservations line and they were able to make it happen. All Star Movies.

I've had the same experience when looking for availability for WL in late December even under rack rates. If I put in 7 nights, there is no room available. If I break it into a 3-night reservation plus a 4-night reservation, I can get a room. I'm only trying to switch room categories at this point, so not a big deal. I just think it's a bit odd as well.

Guest services will generally be willing to combine reservations if same resort same room type. Give them a call

The 6th is a Friday. I would say the vast majority, at least from what I've see, of the times people report issues with availability it's a Friday issue (sometimes a Saturday issue). Basically, at least on your own i.e. you looking for it via MDE, there are background availability measures being taken.

With that being said yes calling can and has helped other DISers out in both availability or combining two (or sometimes more) reservations together.

For me that would be kind of fun. Getting four different views! And I'd live out of my suitcase anyway for four days.

The issue for me is checking out at 10am and then being "room less" until after 3 or 4pm when the new room is ready. We have had split reservations at the same resort a few times and only once did we have to move rooms but you can't really count on it.

I am having a similar problem as the OP - at this point I am about to give up and book the Dolphin instead!
