Strange Dream - and photography

They say that if you are trying to learn a language, and you have a dream in that language, then that is a good sign that you are well on your way to being fluent in that new tongue. I wonder if the same applies to photography?

Last night I had a strange dream. I dreamed that a 25 foot alligator had escaped from the zoo, and that it was trying to eat me. I mean it really wanted to get me. It was breaking down doors, climbing stairs, and basically following me wherever I went. Now having a dream about a giant alligator isn't really all that unusual, after all, who hasn't dreamt about a giant reptile trying to devour them? But what struck me as odd, and what seemed to really crack my wife up when I told her about it, is the fact that during the whole dream I wasn't worried about this giant gator trying to get me, rather I was more worried about getting my camera, and trying to get some good shots of this beast. I vividly remember hoping that my shots were going to come out good. At one point I stood right in front of him as he lunged at me with his mouth wide open and roaring (in case you didn't realize it, dream gators roar like lions) trying to get as many shots as I could.
About the only thing that troubles me about this being a good indication of my budding photography skills is that I don't remember adjusting my settings on the camera. Of course it was a dream, and in dreams I suppose settings can get set magically.

So what do you think? Could this have been a good omen, a promising sign of my future as a photographer? Or was it simply a case of too much caffeine before going to bed?

I told you before to leave the worm at the bottom of the bottle!

I know after awhile the details of a dream fade, but did you at least have the flash popped open?

In my dream I would have had the ISO set to 1600 and the shot would be all noisy. Or perhaps the opposite and I would have been shooting at ISO 100, F8 shutter speed 1/15 sec and it would all be blurry.... Nightmares! :)

hehe... I stay away from alligators. Been there, done that in a swamp in Mississippi. And I did stop to take pictures as I scurried out of the swamp.

I did dream once that I was doing a shoot with Vin Diesel. Other than that all my dreams about photography were about messing up the film for my final project or some other similar disaster.

Your dream is like my reality. Here's a gator taking way to close a look at my hastily abandoned gear.

:scared1::scared1::scared1: Perhaps a bit smaller than the one in my dream, but :scared1::scared1::scared1: nevertheless.
Did he damage any of your stuff, or was he just curious?

We keep hoping for this shot (well, without my gear in jeopardy!) every time we drive through the Ding Darling Nature Preserve on Sanibel Island. But the last few trips.... not a gator in site.

Where was your photo taken?

My photography nightmares are probably shared by many here. I'm at Disney and forgot my camera. :scared1: Drives me NUTS since I have it fairly regularly...... I'm always happy to wake up from that one!

BTW.... That gator looks pretty thick around the middle.... Wonder who's gear he ate before yours!
