Strange coincidences....we all have them, and very often we overlook them until later on.

Several strange, but comforting coincidences have happened to me recently.

As you all know by now, my 20 y.o. nephew was killed last weekend in a car accident.

I truely believe his death served a purpose. To wake the rest of us up, to stop and enjoy the finer things in life, to stop and smell that flower you just walked by, to stop whining and complaining and appreciate all that life has to offer.

The first coincidence came when my DH put his hand into his suit pocket. He last wore that suit to the funeral of his co-worker's 6 year old son who drowned last summer. In that pocket was a prayer program for the church service. On the front was his name, and date of birth and death. Also on the front were those famous praying hands you see on sympathy cards, in churches, etc. Well, it just so happens that our nephew recently got a tattoo of those praying hands on his back. They are also using that for his headstone.

The second conincidence was today. We were sitting in traffic, complaining about it instead of looking around at all the beautiful full and green trees. The sun is shining today--an unusual occurrance lately. Then I noticed that the license plate on the car in front of us had "Sean" on it. It changed my attitude immediately. I looked up, and said "hi Sean" with a smile on my face. :D

Hi Sean! I like that, Blondie.

I found the praying hands!

I say things like that too. In fact, my brother passed away last year of colon cancer at age 48.

He never got to see me perform in a show (I do community theatre), mostly because he lived in Maryland and we live in Florida. My DH and I were rehearsing for "State Fair" at the time of his death and opened the week after he passed away.

Starting with that show, every night, while standing in place backstage, waiting for the curtain to go up, I always said a prayer and ended it with

"Enjoy the show, Tom! Now you have a front-row seat"!

I also put that at the end of my bio in the program.

It makes me feel better and I know he's watching and enjoying!:D

After my grandmother passed away, I was driving home and multiple times I heard the song "You'll be in my heart" from Tarzan. The words being what they are, I took that as a sign and that song stuck with me. Well, less than a year later I was shopping for wedding dresses and couldn't find anything I liked (I'm pretty picky), and I finally found one I liked but wasn't sure. As soon as I had that dress on and went to the 'big' mirror to look at it, that song was on the radio in the Bridal shop. Needless to say, thats the dress I got.

When a loved one passes, I firmly believe they "visit" in thier own little ways.....it happened when my Mom passed, and when DH's Mom and Dad passed.:o

I'm getting chills reading these.

When my Aunt was terribly sick with cancer, she told her sister (my other Aunt) that if possible, she would send her a sign that things were okay by way of a pink flower someplace very unexpected. Guess what....the pink flower showed up in my Aunt's vegetable garden the next summer.

When my Dad passed away, we moved his favorite chair into the basement. One day we came home and it was back in it's place. No one ever confessed to moving it back upstairs.

I believe things really do happen -- isn't that what angels are all about?

Blondie, I love the praying hands. Such a wonderful symbol.

We my sister was in High School one of her best friends was killed in a car accident. He was rushing his way to work and tried to pass some one on gravel and lost control of his car. My sister took his death very hard.
A few months later I was sleeping and had a dream. I was at my local college (which is right by the HS) and I was going to my car. When I got to my car my sisters friend was "hovering" above my car looking confused. I asked if I could help him and he said he was looking for Jessi (my sister.) I told him that this was my car and Jessi was at school. He looked at me and said "Please tell her that I am ok." And then he left. I didn't tell my sister until a few months later because I did not know how she would take it. She said another friend (who was this boys best guy friend) had a similar dream.
The reason I believe this dream was because my sister and I droeve the same car only a couple of years difference. Hers was light blue (faded) mine was light gray (faded). I really believe he was looking for my sister in some way, but needed me to give her his message. :)

I'm so glad you've had these things happen. I wanted to tell you earlier to watch for things like this, but, some people just can't accept this sort of thing.
We have had so many amazing things happen since our son died and my parents, too. It is such a comfort, isn't it?

Take care ~

Blondie, I can relate so much now. How nice to know that those coincidences bring you peace.

As most of you know, my Mom passed away about 5 weeks ago. A couple of weeks ago I went on my scheduled vacation in Florida.

I was driving to my vacation spot and as I neared it I noticed a sign that said "Orchid Island". Well, for my Mom's funeral I told the florist to include orchids, since those were her favorite flower and reminded her of her Honeymoon in Hawaii. So, here I was spending my vacation on "Orchid Island" better know around here as Vero Beach, FL. Many places that I went had the same orchids that were in the funeral bouquets within arrangements on tables and such.

My vacation unit was then located right next to a defribrillator unit. My Mom had severe heart disease and passed due to cardiac arrest. It was comforting, in a way, to see that people with the same problem could actually be saved with the use of those units so nearby.

Another day I was at the beach, in the water, and felt something hard hit my foot. I reached down and picked up the worn interior of a giant snail shell. It was very much like the one I had picked up when I was vacationing with both parents in Jamaica. This shell looked like it had travelled a long way to reach the shores of Florida. It brought back memories of that time in Jamaica and I made sure to take the shell home with me.

Interesting thread..

My Dear SIL passed away a year ago from cancer. She was only 48.
She was not a sentimental person in any way.

At her funeral they started playing a song that always makes me cry, " In the arms of the angels".

My DD and I held on to each other for strength trying to get through the song. Just then, the cd skipped. We looked at each other through our tears and just started laughing.
I know her family must have thought we were terrible, but we just could not stop. My DD said, "I told you she did not want us to cry for her". Obviously she sent us a strong message.

Now, for the other signs...

Arnetta's youngest daughter was married in this same church only about three years prior to her mom passing away.
We had a freak ice storm in March, the lights kept going out during the service, consequently, the music kept dying.
My nephew and I decided this marriage would not last. Someone was trying to send a message, but the right people were not listening. At the end of the ceremony before we left the church, my nieces great aunt had a heart attack.
The aunt was transported to the hospital and was ok.
While we were at the reception my DS accidently ingested a nut.
No big deal, except that he is allergic to nuts and his throat started to close on him.
He was fine after we stabbed him with his epi pen.

Not a good wedding...they divorced about a year later.
Listen and watch for signs, they are there.

Blondie, I believe that God gives us those quiet little signs to bring us comfort if we'll open our eyes and see them. It is up to us to be aware and to see them for what they are because we could just as easily miss them. I find this true for times after death and even every day in our own lives.
{{{hugs}}}
