strange call from Poly room service..

I just received a telephone call from Poly room service, asking me if I had ordered a cake. I replied, Yes, because I had ordered a birthday cake for my DH for our upcoming October dates. We were planning on staying concierge, but decided against it so I cancelled the cake with concierge and five days later changed our GV concierge to regular GV. Well, anyway, the woman from the Poly just asked me what room number I was in, now I was totally confused, so I said Garden View, lloonngg pause on her end, she then said she couldn't find my name anywhere at the Poly. I am now getting worried, when she adds I have a cake for Sept. 23rd ordered by you and we don't have your room number.

Okay, so I tell her our dates aren't until October and have remained that way for nine months, the dates never changed. She seemed to understand then, and was beginning to end the phone call, and I asked her to hold on and if I would be able to get the cake on October 21st. (I figured concierge cancelled the cake, but since they still had the order, I must still be able to get a Micky cake from the Poly.) She was short and said Yes, and hung up. Should I be worried? I guess it is not big deal if I get the cake or not, I thought it was cancelled, my DH is a big boy and will survive without it, it was a Mickey cake, more for my kids than him anyway. I guess I am more worried about having two charges, but they wouldn't do that, right?
 
Wow! I don't know but I'm bumping this for you because I can see why you're concerned. It might be best to post this on the Resorts Board because even though it's about the cake, it's also about your reservation. Good luck!
 
You may want to call back and make sure. It sounds like they have something quirky going on in their computers (or wherever they have this info) and it will probably calm your worried about it to speak to someone else and get your own confirmation
 
Did you make your hotel ressies yourself or through an agency? We booked through Dreams Unlimited and I called the GF to order some goodies for our upcoming stay. The CM couldn't find my name in the computer at all and when I mentioned that I'm booked through DU, she said that was probably why. I would call and check your hotel reservation, then call Polynesian private dining to re-confirm your cake order.
 

Thanks, I think I will call on Monday because this is still on my mind. We made the ressies ourselves, and we have received our reservation numbers and magical express info with all the right info on it, so...........that doesn't bother me too much, I think I will have a place to sleep!!! But, I am thinking I just got charged $50.00 for a cake, that I didn't even get a slice of!!! LOL!!
 
Hope you can get it sorted, it sounds like an input error on the computer. We had a similar thing happen. We received an email to ask why we never showed for our Wishes cruise on the previous evening. Errr..... That would be because we're still in England and the cruise is booked for next month...... :rotfl2: Luckily we didn't get charged but I triple checked that there was actually going to be a boat available for us when we did go!
