Good Morning all. Here is today's edition of SBT.

Donald Duck comics were banned in Finland because he doesn't wear pants.

The charctures Burt and Ernie on Sasame Street were named after Bert the cop and Ernie the cab driver in the Christmas Classic with Jimmy Stewart "It's A Wonderful Life."

In space astronauts are unable to cry, because there is no gravity and tears won't flow. (Now that's a place to cut up onions.)

In Philadelphia, you can't put pretzels in a bag based on an Act of 1760.

In Tennessee, a law exisits which prohibits the sale of bologna on Sunday.

Winston Churchill was born in a ladies' room during a dance.

The dot over the letter i is called a tittle.

The "ZIP" in Zip Code stands for "Zone Improvement Plan."

Everyday 12 newborns are given to the wrong parents in the hospital (maybe that's what's wrong with my sister).

One quarter of the bones in your body are in your feet.

That's it for today, Enjoy!

::yes::
That is probably what is wrong with my sister too. :teeth:
(I do love her)

SL, Thank you for the correction. I went to 3 different web sites and all 3 had the same information, Apologies from the 4 of us.

Some of this stuff goes around so much, you can't help but think it's true. That's why I love snopes.com - I can find out the "truth" about nearly every email I receive or factoid I hear.

Keep them coming though, I love reading them. I just hope I don't put a damper on all the fun. :)

From the official site:
9. Do the names of Ernie and Bert come from "It's a Wonderful Life"?

No, Sesame Street's Ernie and Bert were not named after Bert the cop and Ernie the taxi driver from the 1946 movie "It's a Wonderful Life". Even though many people believe they were named after these characters, Sesame Street writer Jon Stone has attested that this similarity is purely a coincidence.

And an email from Henson.com:

How delightful to hear from you! Regarding your name origins question, the story I usually give is that Frank Capra called me and asked if he could name the Wonderful Life characters after our little buddies, and I said "sure".

If you don't buy that, the real story is that Jim Henson and Frank put on the dollies and started cavorting in front of a rehearsal mirror and we decided Ernie looked like an Ernie and Bert looked like a Bert. Incidentally, that's how Grover got his name too. Oscar was named after a lunch that Jim and I had at an east side seafood house called Oscar's. We were served by a really obnoxious waiter. We didn't get the waiter's name so we named the grouch after the restaurant.

In the hope that this puts to rest all the persistent inaccurate rumors.

I believe that! There were 4 babies born the night I had DD and I was in a group of kids that could have been switched at birth in 1972 (except that I look too much like my sisters and my dad for me to be the one switched) so I studied my DD when they took her to get tested etc... so i wouldn't get the wrong baby. She was my blond haired blue eyed little girl. Well.. a nurse brought in a black haired little boy to me and looked at our tags that didn't match and said, well this is not your baby (looking at my DH who is dark skinned and has black hair). She then said "but there are no other babies with black hair in the nursery, I better check" I hopped out of bed and said, I will get my little GIRL!! I never left her alone again during that stay!

My DS looks like his dad and has dark skin and hair. I said after he was born that I wanted to be with him for all tests etc.. because I was not going through that again. The nurse this time told me we could'nt confuse him, he looks just like his daddy. I said, well my DD looks just like her mom and that didn't stop somebody!

Microcell, You'd better check out that tittle thing before you apologize. Seems I'm putting out a lot id misinformation today!

Ah, don't worry about it DXL, it's good entertainment anyhow! And I'm quite sure the one about the feet is right. Because I think I can identify at least 20 different ones that I can feel pain from!!!

Great stuff, ILUV! These remind me of Deb's "This day in history" and Blondie's "This day in RnR history!" I love all of them!

I told this to my mom and she said " except from the politicians " :)

Binny, politicians are filled with lots of different things.......LOL!

Thanks ILUV!
